Alice Springs

Want a job where no two days are the same, your office is the Red Centre, and you actually get to make things happen?

We’re looking for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our team in Alice Springs.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves people, problem-solving, adventure and getting stuck into the operation. You’ll work alongside the Operations Manager and learn the business from the ground up, with a genuine chance to step into the Operations Manager role in the future.

If you’re looking for a job where you sit behind a desk checking emails all day, this probably isn’t it.

One minute you might be organising guides and vehicles for tomorrow’s departures, the next you’re solving a last-minute operational curveball, checking a camp, helping with a vehicle issue or making sure everything is ready for guests heading into the Red Centre.

What will you actually be doing?

A bit of everything — and that’s what makes the role interesting. You’ll help keep our Alice Springs and Red Centre operation moving, including:

- Coordinating guides, drivers and operational staff
- Helping build and manage rosters
- Making sure tours leave on time with the right people, vehicles and equipment
- Keeping an eye on our fleet and working with the workshop to make sure vehicles are ready to go
- Helping manage our camps, equipment and operational facilities
- Training and supporting guides and new team members
- Making sure safety procedures and operational standards are actually being followed
- Solving the inevitable last-minute problems that come with adventure tourism
- Helping improve systems rather than just accepting “that’s how we’ve always done it”

- Supporting the Operations Manager with the day-to-day running of the business
- Gradually taking ownership of more of the operation as you develop

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for a doer. Someone who sees a problem and thinks:

“How do we fix it?”

Rather than

“Whose problem is this?”

You’ll probably enjoy this role if you:

- Love being busy
- Are naturally organised
- Can juggle multiple things without losing your head
- Enjoy leading and developing people
- Are comfortable making decisions
- Can have difficult conversations when needed
- Care about safety and doing things properly
- Have high standards
- Don’t mind getting your hands dirty
- Can stay calm when the plan changes
- Want responsibility rather than avoiding it

Most importantly, we want someone who wants to grow into running the operation, not someone simply looking for their next job.

Where could this role take you?

The goal is simple. We want to develop the right person into someone capable of running our Alice Springs operation.

As you develop, you’ll start taking greater ownership of:

- Staff
- Rostering
- Fleet
- Camps
- Tour departures
- Safety
- Operational standards
- Guest experience
- Problem solving
- The overall performance of the operation

For the right person, there is a genuine pathway to becoming Operations Manager – Alice Springs.

You don't necessarily need to come from tourism

Adventure tourism experience is great, but we’re more interested in finding the right person. You might currently be a:

- Senior Tour Guide
- Tour Manager
- Operations Coordinator
- Assistant Manager
- Hospitality Manager
- Logistics Coordinator
- Fleet Coordinator
- Supervisor or Team Leader

If you can lead people, organise an operation, solve problems and take ownership, we want to hear from you.

Life in Alice Springs

This isn’t your standard city operations job. You’ll be working in the heart of the Red Centre, supporting tours travelling through some of Australia's most incredible landscapes.

Think Uluru, Kings Canyon, campfires, remote camps, 4WDs, buses and plenty of characters along the way.

It’s challenging, rewarding and occasionally chaotic — but definitely not boring.

What you'll need

Ideally you’ll have:

- Leadership, supervisory or operational experience
- A current Australian driver's licence
- Good organisational and computer skills
- Strong communication skills
- Australian working rights
- A willingness to work flexible hours when the operation needs it

First Aid, passenger transport authorities, heavy vehicle licences and tour guiding experience are all a bonus. But attitude, leadership potential and ownership matter more.

Sound like you?

If you want a job where you can have real responsibility, build a great team, improve an operation and work towards becoming an Operations Manager, we’d love to hear from you. Send us your resume and tell us a little about yourself — particularly why living and working in Alice Springs sounds like your kind of adventure.
