As the Associate Director, Mental Health Campaign, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a major national fundraising initiative supporting Australia's veterans and first responders, while contributing to the Foundation's ambitious growth in philanthropic income. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy & Campaigns, you will lead the strategic planning and delivery of the ‘Road to Recovery’ Campaign, engaging with a diverse network of generous donors, philanthropic foundations, and influential supporters who share a passion for improving the lives of Australia's veterans and first responders. Through strategic relationship building and exceptional stewardship, you will help secure transformational support and create lasting impact for the communities we serve.
The role is offered on a 24-month, full-time contract basis, working 38 hours per week.
About the role
- Secure major philanthropic gifts and build strong relationships with Philanthropists and foundations.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of key donors, creating tailored engagement and stewardship plans.
- Lead the planning and delivery of the Road to Recovery fundraising campaign to achieve ambitious revenue targets.
- Prepare compelling funding proposals, donor presentations, impact reports, and stewardship communications.
- Work closely with senior leaders, clinicians, volunteers, and stakeholders to drive fundraising success.
- Coordinate donor engagement, recognition, and fundraising events that enhance the supporter experience.
- Maintain accurate donor records, campaign reporting, forecasting, and CRM data management.
- Support and mentor volunteers, campaign advocates, and Foundation team members to achieve campaign goals.
Your skills and experience You are an accomplished fundraising professional with a proven track record of securing major philanthropic gifts and leading large-scale fundraising campaigns. You bring exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to inspire support from high-net-worth individuals, foundations, corporate partners, and community leaders.
A confident and persuasive communicator, you can develop compelling funding proposals, presentations, reports, and donor communications while successfully navigating complex stakeholder environments. Your strong understanding of major gift fundraising and the full donor lifecycle, combined with your resilience, strategic thinking, and results-driven approach, enables you to deliver outstanding fundraising outcomes.
Highly organised and self-motivated, you thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about creating meaningful impact through philanthropy. You bring strong technical and donor management system skills, along with the flexibility to travel and support donor engagement activities and events as required. Above all, you will demonstrate a genuine commitment to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care, with people at the heart of everything you do.

- Role will be based from our St John of God Health Care Richmond or Burwood hospitals
