Join Our Board — Help Close the Regional Education Gap

Country Universities Centre Southern Grampians (the Southern Grampians Study Hub) is part of Australia's national Regional University Study Hub (RUSH) network — now more than 55 hubs strong — supporting people across regional, rural and remote communities to study at any university, TAFE or other provider, in any discipline, without leaving their local area.

We have now been operating for 6 months and are extending our reach and services to students and potential students in our community. As a result, we are expanding our volunteer Board to bring in the skills and insight our next stage of growth needs and are seeking 2 recent Board members.

Why now The Australian Universities Accord has set a national target of 80% tertiary attainment by 2050 — but in our region, university-level attainment still sits well below the Victorian average, across all age groups and sectors in our community. As the RUSH network moves toward nationally consistent standards of practice and quality frameworks, we need Board members who can help us navigate that shift while staying genuinely community-led.

We're looking for people with experience in any of the following areas:





- Governance and leadership
- Finance, compliance and risk — including preparing for stronger sector-wide reporting standards
- Grant acquisition and fundraising
- Higher education, TAFE, RTOs or online study pathways
- Equity and access barriers facing regional, rural and remote students
- Stakeholder and community engagement, including with universities, government and industry

What's involved

Meetings: Monthly, in Hamilton or online.

Commitment: 3–6 hours per month.

Join a genuinely community-led Board helping decide what access to higher education looks like in the Southern Grampians and surrounding areas — and connect that work to a growing national movement for regional education equity.
