About the Company
Our client is a growing residential builder based in South West Sydney, delivering quality new homes and residential investment projects. With a strong pipeline and continued plans for growth, they are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper who understands the construction industry and can take ownership of the day-to-day financial administration of the business.
The Role
This isn't a traditional bookkeeping position. You'll work closely with management, suppliers and subcontractors and will need to understand how the financial side of a construction business operates.
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing accounts payable and receivable
- Processing and coding supplier and subcontractor invoices
- Managing supplier and subcontractor payments
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Payroll and superannuation administration
- BAS and GST preparation, working alongside the external accountant
- Monitoring outstanding invoices and accounts receivable
- Assisting with cash flow reporting and financial administration
- Tracking project costs and allocating expenses to the correct jobs
- Reviewing invoices against purchase orders and project requirements
- Assisting with job costing, progress claims and project financials
- Maintaining supplier and subcontractor records
- Supporting management with financial reporting
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and systems
About You
Construction or trade industry experience is essential for this position. You'll understand the terminology and financial processes involved in working with suppliers, subcontractors, purchase orders, variations, progress claims and project costs.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Previous bookkeeping experience within residential construction, building, trades, development, civil or a closely related industry
- Strong understanding of job costing and construction-related financial administration
- Experience with Xero and strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and financial accuracy
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership of your role
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Professional communication skills when dealing with suppliers, trades and subcontractors
- A proactive approach and ability to identify discrepancies before they become problems
