Company Description Automation Systems and Controls (ASC) is an electrical automation engineering and sales company providing components, solutions, and project services for industrial, commercial, and agricultural automation and control projects. ASC supports clients with end-to-end automation offerings, from product supply through to engineered systems. Role Description The Business Development Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Brisbane, QLD, with flexibility for some work from home. This role involves identifying and developing new business opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and promoting ASC’s automation products and solutions. Day-to-day tasks include conducting technical and commercial needs assessments, preparing proposals and quotations, and collaborating with engineering teams to design solutions that meet customer requirements.

The position also requires regular client visits, product demonstrations, participation in industry events, and maintaining accurate records of sales activities and pipelines.

The Business Development





Engineer will work closely with internal stakeholders to align sales strategies with company goals and support long-term customer success.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in electrical, automation, or control engineering, with the ability to understand and explain technical solutions to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in business development, technical sales, or account management within industrial automation, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- Ability to identify customer needs, prepare solution-oriented proposals, and negotiate commercial terms to close opportunities.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining client relationships, including regular site visits, presentations, and follow-up communications.
- Comfort with using CRM tools and standard office software to manage pipelines, track activities, and report on performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and skilled email and phone communication.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical approach to designing and tailoring automation solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation) or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites within the region as required.
- Familiarity with industrial automation products (PLCs, sensors, machine vision, safety systems, IIoT devices) is highly desirable.
