About Us

Cancer Trials Australia (CTA) is a not-for-profit member-based organisation consisting of 33 clinical sites and 3 medical research institutes across Australia and New Zealand. We support the administration and management of clinical trials across both metropolitan and regional hospitals. We work in close partnership with clinical research sites, Sponsors and Contract Research Organisations to ensure patients can gain access to appropriate clinical trials as quickly as possible.

About the Role The Company Secretary is a key role responsible for ensuring solid corporate and ethical governance across the organisation, with a focus on supporting the Board of Directors and executive leadership. The role will facilitate efficient Board and subcommittee operations, ensure CTA meets its statutory and regulatory obligations and maintain best-practice governance standards through the provision of administrative and governance support. This part-time opportunity is offered on a fixed-term, 12-month contract,



with a commitment of approximately 33 hours per month, equivalent to approximately one day per week.

In this role your duties will include:

- Play a key role in supporting effective Board and subcommittee operations, including preparing agendas, papers, minutes and action follow-up.
- Help strengthen communication between the Board, subcommittees and executive leadership to support clear, informed decision-making.
- Provide trusted governance support and guidance to the Board Chair and Directors on responsibilities, procedures and best-practice requirements.
- Maintain high-quality corporate records, registers and Board documentation, including secure access through the Board portal.
- Support CTA’s compliance obligations by managing statutory filings, regulatory correspondence and governance requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting Board onboarding, performance reviews, governance workplans, policy reviews and secretariat processes.

About You You are a collaborative and highly organised governance professional, who brings experience as a Company or Board Secretary, along with strong communication and administrative capability. You will thrive in a purpose-led, not-for-profit environment, with attention to detail, sound judgement and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to contribute to effective Board and organisational governance.

Qualifications and experience:

- Tertiary qualifications in business, law, governance, or a related field.




- Membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD)or membership of the Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or an equivalent Chartered Secretary qualification.
- Proven experience in managing Board and subcommittee operations, including agenda setting, minute-taking, and reporting.
- Advanced technology skills including experience with Microsoft Office suite and managing Board portals.
- Extensive knowledge of corporate governance, legal compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Boards and subcommittees to achieve shared goals.
- Excellent organisational, written and verbal communication skills, ability to maintain the strictest confidence, able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and positively contribute to CTA’s culture and values.
