About Emerald

Emerald is an Australian founded, owned, and operated company leading the nation’s energy transition through innovative, sustainable technology solutions. We're based in Frenchs Forest, in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. We're on a mission to innovate change by engineering products that cost people and the planet less. Since 2006, Emerald has delivered over 60 million energy-efficient products designed to reduce costs and environmental impact.

About the Role The Compliance Officer is a new, dedicated role that takes full ownership of product certification and rebate scheme administration across Emerald's product range (heat pumps, air conditioning and batteries). You will be responsible for getting our products certified and eligible for the various government energy abatement schemes, regulatory bodies and maintaining those certifications over their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Product certification

- Own the end-to-end certification lifecycle for Emerald's heat pump, air conditioning and battery range, coordinating with certification bodies and manufacturers on test reports, certificates of conformity, witness testing and approvals.
- Maintain a live certification register with explicit visibility of status, blockers, target dates, and approval or certificate expiry and renewal deadlines.

Government scheme administration

- Manage applications and ongoing compliance for rebate and incentive schemes, including CEC, CSIP-AUS, VEU, ESS, PDR, and monitor scheme rule changes for impact on Emerald's range.
- Liaise with scheme administrators, auditors and regulators, and lead documentation for scheme audits and reviews.
- Support business units including sales and marketing with accurate,

up-to-date information on scheme eligibility and rebate status for each product.

Risk, documentation and audit readiness

- Track changes to relevant Australian standards and regulations, and flag compliance risks, delays or missing documentation early, with a clear view of severity and mitigation options.
- Maintain compliance registers as the single source of truth for certificates, test reports and declarations of conformity, and keep documentation audit ready.
- Provide compliance input into new product development so certification requirements are considered from the design stage, not retrofitted at launch.

About you

- 3 or more years of experience in a regulatory compliance, certification, or scheme administration role, ideally within energy efficiency, solar, battery, electrical appliance or similarly regulated hardware industries.
- Working knowledge of Australian product certification standards (for example AS/NZS 4777, AS/NZS 5139, CSIP-AUS, Standard Mark, GEMS) and rebate schemes (VEU, ESS, PDRS, CEC, STC), direct experience in energy is highly regarded.
- Experience liaising directly with certification bodies, test laboratories, auditors or regulators.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a portfolio of concurrent certification programs without losing detail.
- Confidence working across technical (engineering, R&D;) and commercial (sales, marketing) teams, and with manufacturing partners.
- Proficiency with project tracking and document management platforms (Monday.com, Confluence, Jira, Notion or similar), and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A tertiary qualification in engineering, science or law is well regarded but not essential; equivalent industry experience is valued equally.
