Senior Automation Technician – Industrial Electrical & Control Systems

Ready for More Than Just Another Electrical Maintenance Role?

If you're an experienced industrial electrician or automation technician who enjoys fault-finding, PLCs, control systems and solving real operational problems, this could be the next step you're looking for. At IoTics, you won't disappear into a large corporate structure.

You'll become an important part of a close-knit technical team, working directly with experienced engineers, technicians and customers across a wide range of industrial sites and projects.

You'll have the opportunity to take on more responsibility, broaden your technical skills, work across multiple industries and technologies, and genuinely influence how we deliver our work.

This is a role for someone who wants to keep developing — technically, professionally and potentially into future leadership.

About IoTics

IoTics is an Australian industrial automation and electrical engineering business helping our customers improve the reliability, efficiency and sustainability of their operations through smarter automation and connected technology. We work across industries including:

- Water & Wastewater
- Utilities
- Food & Beverage
- Manufacturing
- Mining & Resources
- Industrial Infrastructure

Our goal is simple: do great work, build long-term customer relationships and create opportunities that are shared across our team. We're practical, collaborative and always looking for better ways to solve problems.

If you enjoy being part of a business where your contribution is noticed and your ideas are genuinely heard, you'll fit in well at IoTics.

Why Join IoTics?

We believe experienced tradespeople want more than repetitive maintenance work and another payslip. At IoTics, you'll have the opportunity to:

✔ Accelerate your career through exposure to projects, service, commissioning and automation systems

✔ Develop beyond traditional electrical work into PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, networking and control systems

✔ Work across multiple industrial sites, technologies and industries

✔ Take ownership of problems and work directly with customers to deliver solutions

✔ Learn alongside experienced automation engineers, electricians and technicians

✔ Access ongoing technical training, mentoring and development

✔ Have real input into how our service team operates and grows

✔ Build leadership and customer-management skills as your career develops

Most importantly, you'll be part of a team that works hard, backs each other and enjoys what we do.

We invest in our culture through team recognition, social events, quarterly off-site activities and opportunities for the whole team to celebrate success together.

The Role

As a Senior Automation Technician, you'll play a key role in delivering industrial electrical, automation and control systems support to our customers. This is a hands-on,

trade-based automation role.

It is ideally suited to an experienced industrial electrician who has developed strong control systems and fault-finding capability and wants to continue progressing deeper into industrial automation.

Your work will include

- PLC and control system fault-finding
- SCADA and HMI troubleshooting
- Industrial electrical breakdown support
- Diagnosing complex electrical and automation faults
- Planned preventative maintenance
- Control system upgrades and modifications
- PLC, HMI and instrumentation commissioning
- Remote diagnostics and customer technical support
- Industrial electrical installations
- New control system installations and upgrades
- Testing and commissioning of electrical and automation equipment
- Working directly with customers to resolve critical operational issues
- Supporting automation projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance

No two weeks will look exactly the same. One week you may be diagnosing a PLC-controlled production issue, the next commissioning instrumentation on a new project, upgrading an existing control system or supporting a customer with an industrial breakdown.

If you enjoy fault-finding, variety and solving problems, you'll enjoy this role.

About You

You're an experienced electrical tradesperson who enjoys the technical side of industrial electrical work. You're comfortable working independently, but you also enjoy being part of a team.

When equipment stops, you're the type of person who wants to understand why it stopped, find the fault and get it running properly again.

You communicate well with customers, take pride in the quality of your work and are always looking to improve your knowledge.

Ideally, you'll bring:

- A-Grade Electrical Licence – essential
- Minimum 3 years' experience in industrial electrical maintenance, service or automation
- Experience with small to medium industrial electrical installations
- Strong electrical fault-finding capability
- Experience working within industrial breakdown and maintenance environments
- Ability to confidently interpret electrical and control schematics
- Exposure to PLC-controlled machinery and industrial automation systems
- PLC fault-finding and troubleshooting capability
- Experience with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC platforms is highly regarded
- Exposure to SCADA, HMI, VSDs, instrumentation or industrial communications will be highly regarded

- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills when dealing with customers and other trades
- A proactive, solutions-focused attitude
- The ability to take ownership and see a problem through to completion

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, strong fundamentals and a genuine desire to keep learning. You don't need to know every automation platform or technology on day one.

If you have strong industrial electrical experience and a genuine interest in developing further into automation and control systems, we want to hear from you.

What's in It for You?

We want IoTics to be somewhere good people can build a long-term career.

You'll receive

- Competitive salary package
- Fully maintained company vehicle
- Company laptop and required tools
- Ongoing technical training and professional development
- Access to our dedicated automation training lab
- Hands-on exposure to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, VSDs and instrumentation
- Mentoring and support from experienced engineers and technicians
- Genuine career progression as the business grows
- Opportunities to develop into senior technical, project or leadership positions
- Exposure to diverse industrial projects and customers
- Contemporary workspace with team retreat/lounge, games and quiet zones
- Monthly team recognition
- Quarterly off-site team events and challenges
- Novated vehicle leasing options
- Employee referral bonuses
- Employee Assistance Program

You'll get the support and resources of an established engineering business while still having the opportunity to make a visible impact on the team around you.

Where Could This Role Take You?

We're not simply looking for someone to fill a position. We're looking for someone who can become an important part of the future of our service and automation team.

For the right person, this position can develop into opportunities involving:

- Senior technical responsibility
- Advanced automation and control systems
- Commissioning leadership
- Customer and account management

Your progression will ultimately depend on your capability, attitude and where you want to take your career.
