The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Crane Rigger to join the Ironside team. Reporting to the Site Manager, this role plays a key part in lifting operations across our multi-residential construction sites. You’ll be responsible for rigging, slinging, and directing crane movements to ensure all lifts are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and communicate with crane operators using hand signals, radios, and whistles
- Set up and inspect lifting equipment, perform lift plans, and complete pre-start checks
- Sling and shift a variety of structural loads including precast panels and heavy equipment
- Operate lifting gear, hoists, and rigging systems for cranes, conveyors, and demolition equipment
- Assist in the installation of perimeter safety systems and perform general labouring as required
Successful Candidate Requirements:
- Intermediate or advanced rigging licence (RI or RA)
- Minimum 3 years of external rigging experience or 2 years as a qualified dogman
- Ability to read and interpret load charts, sling calculations, and lifting gear selection
- Solid communication skills and a proactive approach to safety and teamwork
- Additional qualifications such as basic First Aid and hoist erection experience are a requirement
