Our client is a company based in Hobart looking for an experienced Data Engineer.

Your new role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer (AWS) to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and cloud-based data platforms. The role will support data integration, transformation, and analytics initiatives while ensuring data quality, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Demonstrated proficiency in Python programming, with experience in developing and maintaining data processing pipelines for data integration and transformation.
- Demonstrable expertise in Python and/or R, for the processing, analysis, visualisation of scientific data and development of data products and Jupyter or R notebook tutorials.
- Experience working in a team-focused, highly collaborative context on software development, data analysis or similar technical projects, preferably following Agile methodologies.
- Demonstrated a methodical approach to development and documentation of software, data and data products, including using contemporary code management practices (e.g., version-controlled repositories, online issue tracking and documentation systems).




- Highly developed technical problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to take ownership of a complex problem and provide solutions
- Detail-oriented with well-developed written and verbal communication skills that result in effective and appropriate communication, including the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.

Ideally, you will also have exposure to one or more of the following technologies: databases (such as PostgreSQL or Elasticsearch), cloud infrastructure (such as AWS or Azure), or data formats (such as NetCDF, Zarr or Parquet), and experience or knowledge of the scientific data lifecycle, including planning phase, data processing and quality control, and data delivery.
