With a team of 600+ healthcare professionals supporting clients across Australia, we're expanding our Newcastle operations and are looking for passionate Disability Support Workers to join our growing clinical team.

About the Role

You will provide support across a 24-hour roster, including:

- Day, afternoon and overnight shifts
- Sleep-over shifts
- Weekday, weekend and public holiday availability
- Personal care and daily living support where required
- Support with routines, appointments and community access
- Meal preparation and household tasks
- Medication prompting/support in accordance with the client's plan
- Supporting clients during periods of heightened anxiety, distress or behavioural escalation
- Implementing positive behaviour support strategies and individual support plans
- Maintaining a safe and structured workplace
- Encouraging independence, dignity and choice
- Accurate progress notes, incident reporting and other required documentation
- Following all NDIS, workplace health and safety, privacy and safeguarding requirements

About You

We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with people who have:
- Mental health conditions
- Complex behaviours
- Emotional dysregulation
- Behaviours of concern
- A history of aggression or challenging behaviours
- Intellectual disability and/or dual diagnoses





You will ideally have experience in high-support or complex-care environments and be comfortable working independently while knowing when to escalate concerns to management. The successful applicants will be:

- Calm, patient and confident in challenging situations
- Reliable and dependable
- Comfortable working with clients who may become verbally or physically aggressive
- Able to maintain professional boundaries
- Non-judgmental, respectful and person-centred
- Observant and able to identify changes in behaviour or presentation
- Confident following behaviour support and risk management strategies
- Comfortable completing detailed progress notes and incident reports
- Physically and emotionally capable of working in a high-support environment
- Available to participate in a 24-hour rotating roster

Essential Requirements





- Previous experience as a Disability Support Worker or in a similar support role
- Demonstrated experience working with people with mental health/psychosocial disabilities and complex behaviours
- Experience managing challenging or aggressive behaviours is highly regarded
- Confident managing hoist transfers and repositioning
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a related qualification
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Australian Driver Licence
- Reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Current National Police Check
- Working With Children Check
- Current Flu vaccination
- 100 points of ID
- Australian working rights

Important

Previous experience in mental health, complex behaviours, behaviour support, or high-intensity disability services is strongly preferred.
