1. Position Purpose
Signpedia is currently recruiting Disability Support Workers for two separate client-support opportunities in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. The role of a Disability Support Worker is to support National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants who are Deaf or hard of hearing, with or without additional disabilities. You will support clients to work towards their individual goals, develop independent living skills and participate within their homes and communities.
We are currently recruiting for the following opportunities:
Opportunity 1: High Intensity Support Worker
We are seeking an experienced Support Worker with demonstrated experience in:
- PEG feeding
- Diabetes management
- Personal care
- High-intensity disability support
- Following individual health and support plans
- Monitoring and reporting changes in a client’s health or wellbeing
- Holds a current driver’s licence and is confident driving
- Has access to a reliable car
Auslan skills would be highly regarded but are not mandatory for this opportunity. You must only undertake high-intensity activities for which you have received appropriate training and have been assessed as competent.
Opportunity 2: Female Hearing Support Worker
We are also seeking a hearing Support Worker for clients who have expressed a preference for female support workers. For this opportunity, we are looking for someone who:
- Has disability-support experience
- Holds a current driver’s licence and is confident driving
- Has access to a reliable car
- Is located within, or willing to travel throughout, the northern suburbs of Adelaide, including Hillier
- Is confident using technology
- Can patiently assist clients to develop their technology skills
- Can adapt their communication and teaching approach to meet individual client needs
Auslan skills are desirable but are not mandatory for this opportunity.

4. Duties and Responsibilities
Depending on the client and opportunity, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing safe and competent high-intensity disability support.
- Assisting with PEG feeding, diabetes management and personal care where appropriately trained and authorised.
- Supporting clients with daily routines, meal preparation, household tasks and appointments.
- Supporting clients to participate in social, recreational and community activities.
- Assisting clients to develop confidence using phones, tablets, computers, applications and online services.
- Explaining technology in a clear, patient and accessible way.
- Providing transport to appointments, shopping and community activities.
- Supporting clients to work towards their individual NDIS goals.
- Promoting independence by developing and strengthening clients’ skills.
- Respecting each client’s choice, control, privacy and decision-making.
- Completing case notes, reports, timesheets and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Observing and reporting changes in a client’s health, behaviour, needs or circumstances.
- Completing incident reports and notifying the appropriate supervisor or Support Coordinator when required.
- Managing client finances or petty cash when required and in accordance with Signpedia procedures.
- Undertaking other duties consistent with your skills, training and classification.
5. Training & Professional Development
- Attend all mandatory and client-specific training requested by Signpedia.
- Maintain competency in all high-intensity supports delivered.
- Participate in performance reviews with management and HR.
- Seek opportunities for professional development in consultation with management.
6. Work Health and Safety
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others.
- Comply with WHS legislation and Signpedia policies and procedures.
- Follow safe-work and infection-control practices.
- Report workplace hazards, incidents and risks promptly.
- Follow individual client support, health and risk-management plans.
7. Key Performance Indicators
- Demonstrated punctuality, reliability and skilled conduct.
- Safe and competent delivery of client supports.
- Positive feedback from clients and families.
- Evidence of supporting clients to work towards their NDIS goals.
- Accurate and timely case notes, incident reports and other records.
- Effective teamwork and positive workplace practices.
8. Selection Criteria
- Disability-support experience relevant to the opportunity for which you are applying.
- Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability Services or a related qualification, and/or equivalent disability-support experience.
- Relevant training and demonstrated competency for applicants seeking the High Intensity Support opportunity.
- Good written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt communication methods to suit individual client needs.
- Computer literacy and the ability to complete electronic records.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a support team.
- Respectful understanding of the rights, dignity and choices of people with disability.
- High standards of ethical and skilled behaviour.
- Auslan skills are highly regarded but are not mandatory.
9. Additional Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to hold or obtain:
- Current and valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current and valid Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current CPR Certificate
- Current and valid driver’s licence where driving forms part of the role
- Comprehensive car insurance where a personal vehicle is used to transport clients
- Evidence of relevant high-intensity training and competency, where applicable
- Any additional South Australian screening or compliance requirements applicable to the role

- NDIS Supporting Effective Communication Module
- NDIS New Worker Induction Module
This is casual employment. Available hours will depend on individual client requirements and may vary from week to week.
