About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on District Maintenance Coordinator to oversee building and asset maintenance activities across a large regional portfolio of transport facilities in Southern NSW. This field-based role is responsible for coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance works, undertaking site inspections, managing contractors, and ensuring facilities are maintained in accordance with safety, compliance, and asset management requirements.
The position covers approximately 25 regional sites spanning from Exeter to Goulburn, Canberra, Wagga Wagga, Albury and Griffith, requiring regular travel throughout the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a background in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, construction, asset management, or a trade-related field who enjoys working autonomously and being actively involved in the management of maintenance activities on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage building and facility maintenance activities across multiple regional sites.
- Oversee corrective and preventative maintenance works to ensure assets remain secure, compliant, and operational.
- Conduct routine inspections, including:
- Safety inspections
- General building inspections
- Annual asset inspections
- Technical maintenance inspections
- Identify maintenance issues, asset defects, and opportunities for improvement.
- Engage and coordinate contractors, ensuring works are completed to the required quality, safety, and compliance standards.
- Review contractor reports and verify maintenance activities have been completed appropriately.
- Monitor maintenance performance, asset condition, and contractor delivery.
- Liaise with site personnel, operational stakeholders, contractors, and management regarding maintenance requirements.
- Prepare reports, inspection findings, recommendations, and updates for management.
- Maintain accurate records within asset management systems.
- Undertake basic maintenance tasks where appropriate and within capability to minimise unnecessary contractor call-outs.
- Support the ongoing management and improvement of regional facility assets.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Facilities maintenance
- Building maintenance
- Construction
- Asset management
- Property maintenance
- Infrastructure maintenance
- Experience coordinating maintenance activities and contractors.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently across a geographically dispersed region.
- Sound report writing and administrative skills.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work within asset management systems.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
- Willingness to undertake regular regional travel and overnight stays as required.
Highly Desirable
- Trade qualification in areas such as:
- Carpentry
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Building & Construction
- Painting & Decorating
- Other relevant building trades
- Experience conducting building, asset, or facilities inspections.
- Experience reviewing maintenance reports and assessing completed works.
- Experience using SAP or similar maintenance/asset management systems.
- Experience working within government, infrastructure,
transport, rail, utilities, or large facilities environments.
Candidates without formal trade qualifications are encouraged to apply if they can demonstrate strong practical experience in maintenance coordination, contractor management, asset inspections, and facilities maintenance.
Working Arrangements
- $750 - $833.86 daily + super
- Four (4) days per week field-based across the allocated region.
- One (1) day per week work-from-home for administration, planning, and reporting activities.
- Regular travel to regional sites.
- Overnight travel may be required depending on inspection schedules and operational requirements.
Travel & Vehicle
- A fleet vehicle will be provided for business-related inspections and maintenance activities.
- The vehicle will be collected from and returned to an allocated depot or regional location.
- Travel and accommodation associated with approved work activities will be arranged in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will be practical, self-motivated, and comfortable working both in the field and in an administrative environment. You will have a strong understanding of maintenance practices, contractor management, and building systems, along with the ability to identify issues, coordinate solutions, and ensure assets remain safe and operational. Individuals residing within the Southern NSW region, particularly around Dapto, Wollongong, Kiama, Goulburn, Canberra, Albury, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, or surrounding areas, are encouraged to apply.

Contract Duration: Initial contract of approximately 98 business days, with potential extension opportunities subject to operational requirements.
