About HDC

Heavy Duty Controls & Electrical is a growing electrical and manufacturing business based in Yatala, QLD. We build industrial control panels, electrical skids, switchboards and wiring systems for customers across the resources, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors, as well as carrying out commercial electrical work around the Yatala and Brisbane industrial areas.

We’re a small team with a good workshop, interesting projects and plenty of work on. We’re looking for a licensed electrician to join us on a casual basis and help across our workshop, commissioning and local site work.

The Role

You’ll work primarily from our Yatala workshop, helping complete and commission the electrical systems we build.

Typical work includes

- Wiring and electrical fit-out of industrial skids and equipment
- Testing and commissioning
- Point-to-point and insulation resistance testing
- Fault finding and final checks before equipment leaves the workshop
- Installation and commissioning at customer sites when required
- Occasional commercial electrical work around Yatala and the Brisbane industrial areas
- Working alongside and occasionally supervising apprentices

If you haven’t worked specifically on large industrial skids or control panels before, that’s okay. Experience in industrial or commercial electrical work is more significant,



and we can teach the specifics of how we build and test our equipment. Most work is carried out at our Yatala facility. Site work is generally within Brisbane and surrounding industrial areas, with a company vehicle provided when required.

There is no regular overnight travel, no roster and no after-hours callout work.

Hours

This is a casual role, with plenty of work currently available. Our normal operating hours are:

Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 2:30pm

Friday: 6:00am – 12:00pm

You’ll finish at midday every Friday.

What We’re Looking For

You’ll need:

- Current QLD Electrical Worker Licence
- White Card
- Current driver’s licence
- Good electrical fault-finding and testing skills
- A practical, tidy approach to your work
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team

Industrial or commercial electrical experience is preferred. Experience with control panels, machinery, skids, commissioning, EWP work, quoting or estimating is useful, but not essential.

We are more interested in finding a capable electrician with the right attitude than someone who ticks every box.

Pay

$55–$65 per hour casual rate + 12% super, depending on experience. There is plenty of work available for the right person.
