AXIS is currently seeking an experienced Fitter / Machinist to join our team.

About the Role

We’re after a capable, hands-on tradesperson with strong machining skills who takes pride in producing quality work. The successful applicant will be confident operating both CNC and manual lathes, with CNC programming experience considered a strong advantage.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving fitting and machining work, including:

- Setting up and operating CNC lathes
- Manual machining using lathes, mills and other workshop machinery
- Fitting, assembly and repair of mechanical components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Working accurately to drawings,



dimensions and tolerances
- Using precision measuring equipment to inspect finished components
- Fault finding and problem solving
- General workshop duties
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and safety

About You

Essential skills and experience:

- Trade qualification as a Fitter & Turner / Fitter Machinist or equivalent
- Experience setting up and operating CNC lathes
- Strong manual lathe machining skills
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
- Good understanding of machining tolerances and precision measuring equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Commitment to quality and workplace safety
- Current Driver's License
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one

Desirable skills and experience:

- Ability to program CNC lathes
- Experience with manual milling machines
- Broader CNC machining experience
- Experience with fitting, assembly and mechanical repair work
