GM3 is inviting expressions of interest from experienced mining professionals for potential roles at Tahmoor Mine following the proposed recommencement of operations.
We are excited about the prospect to support the next chapter of Tahmoor Mine and are looking for experienced people who would like to help build a safe, productive and sustainable operation.
Successful candidates for these roles will be employed by GM3 and are expected to be based at Tahmoor Mine following completion of the proposed acquisition.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the recommencement of a mine with a proud history, help rebuild operational capability and be part of a strong and experienced mining team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Compliance Superintendent, the Emergency Coordinator will be accountable for emergency preparedness, emergency escape systems, mine rescue capability and statutory compliance across Tahmoor Mine. This role is critical in ensuring the site has the systems, people, equipment and response arrangements required to safely manage emergency scenarios and maintain operational readiness.
This role is based at Tahmoor Mine, located in the Southern Highlands of NSW, approximately 80 kilometres south-west of Sydney and within easy commuting distance of Wollongong, the Macarthur region and surrounding communities.
Key activities include but are not limited to
- Take accountability for the mine’s emergency escape systems, including lifelines, self-contained self-rescuers, compressed air breathing apparatus and emergency response resources.
- Audit,
monitor and maintain compliance of emergency escape systems and underground firefighting equipment.
- Coordinate emergency training exercises, drills and annual reviews of the Emergency Management Plan.
- Manage and support the onsite Mine Rescue Team, including response readiness, training and capability requirements.
- Liaise confidently with external emergency services, including Police, Ambulance and Fire, where required.
- Develop communication and educational material and facilitate training to support maintenance of competency requirements.
- Assist with regulator requests, responses and information requirements relating to emergency management and compliance.
- Fulfil individual obligations and support compliance with Life Saving Rules, site standards and legislative requirements.
ABOUT YOU You are an experienced emergency services, mine rescue, statutory compliance or underground coal professional who brings strong safety leadership, sound judgement and the ability to coordinate critical emergency systems in a complex operational setting.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in emergency management, mine rescue, underground coal mining, statutory compliance or a similar high-risk operational environment.
- Strong understanding of emergency preparedness, escape systems, firefighting equipment, response planning, drills and emergency exercises.
- Ability to coordinate training, audits, inspections, competency requirements and improvement actions across site teams.
- Confidence liaising with operational leaders, regulators, emergency services and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe work, risk management, statutory compliance, individual obligations and Life Saving Rules.
- Strong communication, planning, influencing and problem-solving skills.
