Huntingtower School invites applications for the position of Risk and OHS Manager, a senior operational role providing strategic and practical leadership across enterprise risk management, occupational health and safety, emergency management, and governance.

Reporting to the Director of Business Operations, the Risk and OHS Manager works closely with the Principal, School Executive, senior leaders, and the Board to ensure risk and safety frameworks are robust, embedded, and continuously strengthened across the School.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on implementation, requiring sound judgement, discretion, and strong relationship‑building skills. The scope of the role extends across all areas of School operations, including teaching and learning spaces, the Health Centre, Performing Arts Centre, Sports and Aquatic Centre, and After‑School Care.

The role reports to the Director of Business Operations. All positions at the School ultimately report to the Principal.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development, implementation, and review of the School’s enterprise risk management framework, including maintenance of the whole‑school Risk Register
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report risks to support informed Executive and Board decision‑making
- Provide clear, timely reporting and insights to the Principal, Executive Team, and Board Risk Committee
- Support strategic projects including business continuity, disaster recovery planning, and major initiatives

Occupational Health & Safety

- Ensure compliance with WHS/OHS legislation and Australian Standards
- Chair the School’s OHS Committee and promote a culture of continuous improvement
- Oversee incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and trend analysis
- Deliver OHS induction and ongoing training for staff

Emergency Management

- Lead the development, implementation, and review of the School’s
- Emergency Management Plan
- Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, and post‑incident reviews
- Act as a key member of the Incident Management Team and liaise with emergency services as required

Child Safety & Wellbeing

- Ensure child safety risks are identified, assessed, recorded,



and monitored within risk and assurance frameworks
- Contribute to the School’s Child Safety Committee from a risk and governance perspective
- Support the embedding of a strong, proactive child protected culture

Operational & Advisory Support

- Provide practical advice and guidance to staff on risk, safety, and compliance matters
- Support risk assessments for excursions, camps, international travel, and major events
- Oversee contractor compliance and external facility use in collaboration with senior leaders
- Build strong relationships across the School community to promote shared responsibility and trust

About You

You will bring:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, governance, WHS, business, education, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)
- Demonstrated experience managing risk, OHS, and compliance in a complex organisation
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, Australian Standards, and child safety obligations
- Experience advising senior leaders and engaging effectively with Boards or Board committees
- Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship‑building skills
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with sound professional judgement
- A strong commitment to child safety, wellbeing, and values‑based practice
