About the role

Newcastle Formwork Services is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Formwork Carpenter to lead a small crew across commercial formwork projects in Newcastle and the Hunter. This is a hands-on position. You will work alongside the crew while taking responsibility for set-out, daily planning, productivity, quality and coordination of the formwork scope.

The successful applicant must be capable of taking ownership of the work and keeping a small crew organised and productive without requiring constant supervision.

Key responsibilities

- Lead and work alongside a small formwork crew
- Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Complete accurate set-out and dimensional checks
- Plan daily activities and allocate work to the crew
- Coordinate labour, materials, plant and equipment
- Monitor productivity and maintain the construction programme
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and safety
- Identify and resolve issues before they affect progress




- Coordinate professionally with site management and other trades

Experience required

Applicants must have strong experience in conventional commercial formwork, including:
- Suspended decks and balconies
- Concrete walls
- Stairs and landings
- Edge forms, rebates and penetrations
- Formwork systems, propping and stripping
- Reading drawings and completing set-out

Requirements

- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification
- Proven formwork leading-hand experience
- Construction White Card
- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to lead by example and remain productive on the tools
- Reliable, safety-conscious and committed to quality work
