Funeral Service Assistants & Funeral Service Concierges Brisbane | Casual, Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities

At K.M. Smith Funeral Directors, we're looking for exceptional people to join our funeral service team.

You don't need funeral industry experience. What matters most to us is who you are, your attitude, reliability, presentation, confidence with people and genuine commitment to exceptional service.

We have opportunities at different levels of experience, from Funeral Service Assistants who support the delivery of our services through to Funeral Service Concierges who take the lead in ensuring everything comes together seamlessly on the day.

The Role

Our funeral service team creates a calm, professional and beautifully delivered experience for families and their guests. Depending on your experience and level of responsibility, your role may include:

- Preparing for and assisting with funeral services
- Welcoming and supporting families and guests
- Preparing chapels, venues, equipment and funeral vehicles
- Coordinating with celebrants, clergy, cemeteries, crematoriums and other service providers
- Leading or supporting the funeral service on the day
- Anticipating the needs of families and guests
- Ensuring every detail reflects K.M. Smith's standards of care and professionalism
- Supporting the wider team and day-to-day funeral operations

Our more experienced Funeral Service Concierges take greater ownership of the service on the day, bringing together the family,



our team and external service providers to ensure everything runs seamlessly from beginning to end.

About You

We're not looking for a particular career background. We're looking for the right people. You will be someone who:

- Understands what exceptional customer service looks and feels like
- Communicates comfortably with people from all walks of life
- Is calm, organised and capable when things don't go exactly to plan
- Notices the little things and takes pride in getting them right
- Is reliable, punctual and a genuine team player
- Has the maturity and judgement to handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Is respectful of different cultures, traditions and beliefs
- Is physically fit and comfortable with the practical and manual requirements of the role
- Holds a current unrestricted driver's licence

Experience in hospitality, hotels, airlines, events, customer service, healthcare, aged care, community services or another people-focused environment would be highly regarded, but funeral industry experience is not essential.

Some of the qualities that make someone exceptional in funeral service aren't learnt from a textbook. They come from life experience. Knowing how to read a room. Being comfortable speaking with people.



Remaining calm when something changes. Recognising when to step forward and help and when to quietly step back.
