As General Manager City Safety and Liveability, you will provide strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio responsible for community safety, regulatory compliance, local laws, animal management, biosecurity, and branch operations.
You will lead a large and complex service workplace, driving contemporary service delivery, innovation and organisational excellence while helping ensure Logan remains a safe, healthy and liveable city for our growing community.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Community and Lifestyle, this role provides executive leadership to a multidisciplinary branch delivering critical frontline, regulatory and community services operating across a 24/7 environment.
Position responsibilities include:
- Set the strategic direction, priorities and objectives for the City Safety and Liveability Branch.
- Lead a complex portfolio responsible for community safety, regulatory compliance, local laws, animal management, biosecurity and branch operations.
- Drive branch transformation through service modernisation, regulatory innovation and technology-enabled improvements.
- Lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement strategic policies, plans and initiatives that enhance community safety and liveability outcomes.
- Provide trusted advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors on complex regulatory, operational and community matters.
- Ensure strong governance, risk management, financial stewardship and legislative compliance across all service areas.
- Build productive relationships with Councillors, government agencies, community stakeholders and executive peers to achieve strategic outcomes
Key indicators for success:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Legal Studies, Regulation and Compliance or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
- Extensive senior leadership experience within regulatory, compliance, public safety, public health, local government or similarly complex operational environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading large workforces responsible for compliance, enforcement, investigations and operational delivery.
- Significant experience in strategic planning, governance, risk management and service delivery.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead innovation, transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Current Queensland "C" Class Driver's Licence
- Successful completion of relevant working rights, background checks including finance check, National Police History Check and Working with Children Card.
