About the Role
Position Title: Graduate Teacher – Junior School
Employment Type: Full-time, Fixed Term
Commencement: Beginning of the 2027 school year
Location: St Pius X Primary School, Warrnambool
Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role will include:
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated learning programs that meet the needs of students.
- Establish a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to support student engagement and learning.
- Assess, monitor and document student learning and progress.
- Provide appropriate feedback to students to support their learning and development.
- Use student assessment data to inform planning and teaching.
- Implement individual learning adjustments and support strategies where required.
- Develop students' literacy, numeracy and broader learning capabilities.

Key Selection Criteria:
- 1. Catholic Identity and Mission: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the ethos, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church, and the ability to actively contribute to and nurture the Catholic identity of the school community.
1. Classroom Management and Student Engagement: Ability to establish and maintain a positive, well-structured learning environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of young learners.
1. Student Wellbeing: A demonstrated understanding of the social,
emotional, and physical wellbeing needs of young children, and the ability to embed wellbeing principles into everyday classroom practice through a School Wide Positive Behaviour System.
1. Curriculum Knowledge and Pedagogical Practice: Ability to plan and deliver structured, sequenced lessons incorporating clear learning intentions and success criteria, modelling ("I do"), guided practice ("we do"), and independent practice ("you do"), along with regular checks for understanding and timely, targeted feedback.
1. Child Safety: A demonstrated commitment to promoting and protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children, with sound knowledge of (or willingness to quickly develop knowledge of) Child Safe Standards, mandatory reporting obligations, and relevant school policies and codes of conduct.
