Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Handyman Carpenter role based in Sydney, NSW. The Handyman will perform day-to-day carpentry and general maintenance tasks across commercial sites including installing and repairing doors, frames, skirting, cabinetry, and fixtures.
Responsibilities include minor building and fit-out works, patching and repairing walls, basic plumbing and hardware repairs, and assisting with remedial and upgrade projects (such as bathrooms, offices, and lift lobbies). The role involves performing scheduled and reactive maintenance, conducting site inspections, identifying repair needs, and reporting issues to supervisors or project managers.
The Handyman will also be expected to maintain a safe and tidy work area, follow OHS procedures, coordinate with other trades, and interact professionally with clients and building occupants.
Qualifications
- Strong carpentry skills, including framing, fixing, fit-off, and basic joinery work.
- Experience with general handyman tasks such as minor repairs, patching, painting touch-ups, and basic service or hardware adjustments.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively, with good knowledge of construction materials and methods.
- Understanding of building codes, site safety standards, and OHS requirements on active construction and fit-out sites.
- Ability to read and interpret basic drawings or plans and follow instructions from site supervisors or project managers.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when working with clients, contractors, and team members.
- Strong time management, reliability, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Trade qualification in carpentry or equivalent experience; relevant licenses and tickets (e.g., White Card) are highly regarded.
- Driver’s license and ability to travel between sites within the Sydney area as required.
