One of our Federal government is seeking to engage Scrum Master
Location of work: Adelaide
Length of contract: 12 months
Security clearance: Australian citizen with Baseline Clearance preferred.
You will work closely with Software Architects, Project Managers, Product Owners, Analysts, Testers and Developers , sharing the purpose of building easy, helpful, respectful and transparent services for everyday Australians.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Build the team's knowledge of Agile values, principles, techniques, processes and tools.
- Collaborate with the team to develop a mutually agreed social contract outlining team behaviours, practices and Agile process rules.
- Plan and facilitate Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Assist the Product Owner with reviewing and refining the product backlog, including reprioritising and reassessing the relevance of tasks and stories to ensure alignment with Agile principles.
- Anticipate, address and remove blockers and impediments that may impact the team's ability to achieve its goals.
- Negotiate with Product Owners and stakeholders to protect the team from external influences that may affect delivery of agreed goals.
- Coordinate with other teams as required to manage dependencies and support delivery.
- Oversee new starters and ensure a smooth transition into the team, including introducing them to the team's social contract.
- Help the team manage conflicts and challenges and play a key role in improving team cohesion, motivation, dynamics and performance.
- Create an environment of trust and respect where issues and concerns can be raised safely.
- Ensure adherence to agreed Agile process rules and help the team remain effective by addressing conflicts and challenges.
- Conduct Agile rituals and events and actively participate in communication and change activities involving stakeholders.
- Research Agile trends, industry dynamics, frameworks and tooling to guide and improve the team's use of Agile methodologies.
- Build team capability through coaching and mentoring.
- Facilitate teams and enable them to become self-managing and self-organising.
- Develop and implement changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies and assist teams through the transition to change.
Technical Skills
- Extensive experience as a Scrum Master .
Measurement — SFIA Level 4
- Identifies and prioritises appropriate measures, scales and targets.
- Supports projects, functions or teams in the development of measurement methods.
- Specifies base and derived measures that support agreed information needs.
- Specifies how data should be collected and stored for each required measure.
- Designs reports and reporting formats.
Methods and Tools — SFIA Level 4
- Provides advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
- Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools.
- Reviews and improves the usage and application of methods and tools.
Organisational Facilitation — SFIA Level 5
- Facilitates workgroups to deliver defined goals and outcomes.
- Provides support, guidance and suggestions to workgroups and teams to enable collaborative problem solving and improve team performance.
- Creates shared responsibilities and sustainable agreements with the team.
- Implements and improves agreed team principles, practices, processes and ceremonies.
- Recognises and works with the strengths and constraints of team dynamics.
Employee Experience — SFIA Level 4
- Supports assigned co-workers in areas of uncertainty, including organisational contacts, communication channels, processes, job expectations and manager relations.
- Provides detailed and specific advice regarding the application of their specialist knowledge to organisational planning and operations.
- Actively maintains knowledge in one or more identifiable areas of specialism.
- Recognises and identifies the boundaries of their own specialist knowledge.
- Where appropriate, collaborates with other specialists to ensure advice provided is appropriate to organisational needs.
