Our client, a well-established global manufacturer and technology leader within the electrical test and measurement industry, is seeking an experienced Electrical Test & Measurement Technician to join its Sydney-based service operation.
This is a hands-on technical position focused on the calibration, testing, troubleshooting and repair of specialized electrical and electronic test equipment used across low-, medium- and high-voltage applications.
The successful candidate will ideally come from an electrical/electronics service, calibration, instrumentation, metrology or test-equipment environment and have strong diagnostic skills, including the ability to identify and repair faults at component level.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded skilled who enjoys hands-on problem solving and wants to develop deeper expertise working with sophisticated electrical testing technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Calibrate, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Work with specialized equipment used in LV, MV and HV electrical applications.
- Diagnose electrical and electronic faults down to component level.
- Perform corrective repairs and verify equipment performance following repair.
- Conduct incoming equipment inspections, functional testing and quality checks.
- Read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
- Prepare accurate service, repair and calibration reports.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable Australian Standards, quality procedures and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers by phone and email.
- Maintain accurate service records, workshop equipment, tools and inventory.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the service department.
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical or electronic equipment.
- Experience with calibration, instrumentation, electrical testing or test and measurement equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform component-level fault diagnosis and repair.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and measurement principles.
- Ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
- Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation or a related technical discipline.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Good technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional technical support to customers.
Highly Regarded Experience
Candidates with any of the following experience will be particularly attractive:
- Experience working within a NATA-accredited calibration laboratory.
- Calibration and repair of electrical test instruments.
- Experience with high-voltage test equipment.
- Previous exposure to utility, power generation, industrial or electrical-service customers.
- Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality environment.
- NSW Restricted Electrical License or willingness and ability to obtain one.
