You were a top 1% achiever in the HSC and excelled in English, then everyone told you the only thing you could do with it was law. We know that’s not true.

English is a critical skill - you can tutor it and get paid well for doing so, working completely remotely around your degree.

Concept Education is NSW's premier online tutoring company, and we only hire tutors who have done what our students are trying to do. Not education graduates, not people who studied English somewhere else. People who sat the NSW HSC and smashed it.

This role runs on

Completely remote work. We don’t mind where you work from, as long as you sat the HSC.

The role

You'll run 1:1 online lessons, and occasionally small groups, for Years 7 to 12, with the focus on HSC English Standard, Advanced, Extension 1 and 2 (depending on which subjects you studied).

This is not marking worksheets. You will pull a Module B essay apart and rebuild it. You will show a Year 12 how to read an unseen text under time pressure and still have something original to say about it. You will get a student who "just isn't an English person" to hold an argument for 1,000 words. Then you will watch their marks move due to your efforts.





You'll build lesson content, not read from a script. As you gain experience you'll write material used across the company, and eventually train other tutors. Plenty of our tutors arrive having never tutored before. We have a Proven Process, we train you in it, and you are never left to work it out alone.

Everything is online, so you tutor from wherever you are. You have real say over your hours. What we ask is that you show up prepared, communicate like a professional with parents and the team, and genuinely care whether the student achieves their goals.

Essentials

- Read this one carefully: you must be a top 1% graduate of the NSW HSC. That means an ATAR of 99+, a State Ranking, or another prestigious academic award. We cannot accept interstate or overseas equivalents for this role.
- You can tutor HSC English Advanced at a minimum.
- Availability on at least two days Monday to Thursday. Weekends are welcome on top of that, not instead of it.
- Genuine people skills. Warm, clear, and comfortable talking to students and their parents.
- A Working With Children Check, or the willingness and ability to get one.
- Reliable internet and a quiet space to tutor from.

Nice to have

- English Extension 1 or 2 under your belt.
- Tutoring experience. If you have never tutored, apply anyway. Several of our best started here.

Things worth knowing

- You don't need a degree yet. If you sat the HSC last year and smashed it, you are exactly who we're looking for.
- We pay well above the market, because we expect more than the market. Higher standards, more training, more preparation.
- No ABN required.
- You'll be working alongside people as sharp as you are.
