Industrial Sewing & Embroidery Machine Operator
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an entry-level or experienced Industrial Sewing & Embroidery Machine Operator to join our small, family owned and operated pet product manufacturing business located in the Hunter Valley. We pride ourselves on being leaders in our industry and are looking for a motivated, reliable and highly driven person to join our team.
We have an amazing opportunity at our Rutherford-based factory for someone looking for a Full-Time position working for Australia’s leading pet bedding manufacturer. Part-Time employment may also be considered for the right candidate, however Full-Time is preferred.
This position is open to applicants of all ages and experience levels. Whether you have years of industrial sewing experience, experience with commercial embroidery machines, strong domestic sewing skills, or are looking to return to the workforce, we would love to hear from you.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who can work across both industrial sewing and embroidery, however applicants with strong sewing experience but little or no embroidery experience are absolutely encouraged to apply. For the right person, we can provide training in the areas you haven’t worked in before.
Not only do we manufacture pet bedding, collars, leads, treats and accessories, but we also import some of the best dog toys from America and export our products around the world. With our domestic and export markets continuing to grow, we are on the hunt for someone who wants more than just a job — someone who wants to enjoy where they work, take pride in what they produce and be part of a dynamic Australian manufacturing business.
Our product range is diverse, and we believe in changing pets’ lives for the better through quality Australian and USA-made products.
We are looking for someone to start immediately. Experience operating industrial sewing and/or commercial embroidery machines is highly regarded but not essential. If you have a high level of domestic sewing experience, we can help you transition to industrial machinery. What matters most to us is your attitude,
attention to detail, reliability and willingness to learn.
The perfect candidate will:
- Have sewing experience, whether industrial or domestic
- Embroidery machine experience would be highly regarded
- Have good computer skills and be comfortable learning embroidery software and machine interfaces
- Have excellent attention to detail and take pride in producing high-quality work
- Be able to follow manufacturing procedures, job specifications and production instructions
- Have good time management and communication skills
- Be reliable, punctual and possess a strong work ethic
- Be willing to learn new machinery, techniques and skills
- Be willing to assist in other areas of the business when required
- Be clean and tidy in both appearance and workspace
- Have the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Possess valuable problem-solving skills
- Be comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
- Love animals — there are plenty around here!
- Bring a positive, professional attitude and be an active member of our team
What you’ll be doing:
- Safely operating industrial sewing machinery including single needle, twin needle, overlocker and programmable sewing machines
- Operating commercial embroidery machinery to personalise and manufacture customer orders
- Setting up and preparing embroidery jobs using computer software and customer artwork/files
- Sewing and manufacturing a diverse range of pet bedding, collars, leads and other textile products
- Accurately following production instructions and specifications
- Checking embroidery details and customer personalisation before production
- Maintaining a very high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Quality control throughout the manufacturing process
- Identifying and reporting faults or issues with materials, products or machinery
- Performing basic machine care and maintenance to ensure safe and correct operation
- Troubleshooting basic sewing and embroidery machinery issues
- Working closely with our CNC cutting, production and other manufacturing staff
- Ensuring your workspace remains clean, organised and safe
- Assisting in maintaining a clean factory and warehouse
- Assisting in other areas of the company as required
In return we offer:
- Full-Time employment preferred, with Part time available for the right candidate
- Monday to Friday working hours
- Public Holidays off and Christmas shutdown
- $26–$30 per hour + entitlements, dependent on experience
- Monthly Rostered Day Off for Full time employees
- A fun, relaxed and comfortable working environment
- Modern, state-of-the-art industrial sewing and embroidery machinery
- Air-conditioned sewing room
- Lots of on-the-job skills sharing and training
- A workplace where your ideas and opinions are welcomed
- A judgement-free, Equal Opportunity and inclusive environment
- Applicants of all ages are encouraged to apply
- And, of course, lots of pats from doggos!
Remuneration will be based upon the Textile, Clothing, Footwear and Associated Industries Award 2020, with classification dependent on skills and experience. We believe in rewarding the right person and offer rates above the applicable Award where appropriate. If you’re up for something unique, you’re enthusiastic and think you’d be a PAWfect fit — hit the apply button and INCLUDE YOUR PERSONALISED COVER LETTER to tell us a little more about you!
No, really — include your cover letter. We actually read them! Make it relevant to the position and tell us about YOU, your sewing and/or embroidery experience and why you think you’d be a great addition to our team.
To be eligible for this position you must have the appropriate rights to work in Australia and be able to provide proof of your working rights.
