About the role

Due to planned upcoming retirements, we are expecting to have a paediatric cardiology Interventionalist position becoming available between 2027 and 2028.

About the Team/Service/Location The Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Service (PCCS) is a national service based at Starship Child Health, Auckland. It is the sole provider of cardiology, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgical services for infants and children with congenital and acquired heart disease for New Zealand and a number of Pacific Island nations. It also provides a foetal and adult congenital cardiology service.

The unit has a catchment population of over five million and we provide a full range of surgical and cardiological investigations and procedures. You would be one of a team of 3 interventionalists working in a department with 12 cardiologists, 3 cardiac surgeons, 4 fellows in training and a well-established multi-disciplinary team.

The Starship cath lab is planned for replacement/refurbishment shortly.



This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in vendor selection and space re-design to create a state-of-the-art gold-standard lab to do your best work.

We offer the full spectrum of catheter interventions for neonates to adults and are consistently expanding our programme. We have an innovative emerging 3D CT reconstruction, virtual reality and 3D printing programme assisting with interventional/surgical planning, allowing our forward-thinking team to utilise the latest technology advancements.
