Your Team

Java Engineer on Calypso Platform is responsible for designing, customizing, and supporting the Calypso trading and clearing platform. The role combines development, BAU support, and enhancements, working closely with business, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure platform stability, scalability, and continuous delivery of new capabilities.

You will be part of a high-performing engineering team within the Technology and Delivery division, responsible for designing, building, and operating scalable, resilient platforms that underpin critical market infrastructure. The team works closely with product and operations to deliver robust, secure, and high-performance systems, driving engineering excellence, modern architecture, and continuous improvement to support ASX’s mission of a stable and efficient marketplace.

Your responsibilities

- Design, develop,



and maintain enterprise applications using Java and related technologies.
- Deliver new features, enhancements, and technical solutions aligned with business and platform requirements.
- Provide BAU support, including incident investigation, root cause analysis, and defect remediation.
- Develop and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations.
- Build and support integrations with upstream and downstream platforms, databases, and messaging systems.
- Participate in application design, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
- Contribute to platform performance optimization, scalability, and reliability initiatives.
- Support release management activities, including deployment, regression testing, and production rollout.
- Collaborate closely with QA teams to improve automation coverage and overall software quality.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using modern DevOps practices.
- Ensure solutions comply with security, governance, and operational standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, solution designs, operational runbooks, and support procedures.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

- 6-8+ years of hands-on Java development experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in Core Java, including Collections, Concurrency, Multithreading, JVM Internals, and JDBC.
- Experience building and supporting distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and microservices architectures.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and related Java ecosystem technologies.
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server, including advanced SQL development.
- Experience with messaging and event-driven architectures using Kafka, JMS, or similar technologies.




- Proficiency in Git-based source control and modern CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills.
- Experience working in Unix/Linux environments and scripting.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
- Experience delivering solutions within Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

- Experience in Capital Markets, Trading, Clearing, Risk, or Post-Trade platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Experience with performance testing and non-functional testing practices.
- Exposure to event streaming, data platforms, and real-time processing architectures.
- Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
- Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical enterprise platforms.
- Exposure to DevSecOps and security best practices.
