Role Description The Construction Engineer - Junior (Temp Works) role is a full-time role based in Perth, WA, with a mix of on-site and office based arrangements. This role supports the planning, design, and implementation of temporary works such as formwork, falsework, propping, and access structures for concrete construction projects.
Day-to-day tasks include assisting in preparing design calculations and drawings, reviewing construction methodologies, coordinating with site teams, and ensuring temporary works comply with relevant standards and safety requirements. The engineer will help monitor on-site installation, attend site meetings, and contribute to resolving technical issues under the guidance of senior engineers. Additional responsibilities include maintaining documentation, supporting risk assessments, and contributing to continuous improvement of temporary works processes and procedures.
Qualifications
- Foundational knowledge of structural engineering and concrete structures, with an interest in temporary works design and construction.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and assist in preparing design sketches and calculations.
- Basic familiarity with engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar drafting tools, structural analysis packages) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and numeracy skills, with attention to detail in technical work and documentation.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary site teams and interact with contractors and suppliers.
- Positive organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and follow established procedures safely.
- Relevant tertiary qualification (or near completion) in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Civil or Structural Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Understanding of basic construction safety principles and willingness to comply with all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Eligibility to work in Australia and availability to attend project sites in the Perth, WA region as required.
