Contract: 12 months + 2 x 12-month extensions

We are seeking an experienced Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect to play a key technical leadership role within a major technology transformation program. This opportunity is suited to a senior technology professional with extensive experience across cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven platforms, AI engineering and modern software delivery practices.

The successful candidate will provide architectural leadership, influence key engineering decisions, drive technology modernisation and help embed AI-enabled practices across the software delivery lifecycle.

About the Role The program is establishing enterprise foundations for Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture , while introducing AI-enabled engineering practices across the software development and service delivery lifecycle.

As the Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect, you will help shape these capabilities from an architectural and engineering perspective, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, resilient, maintainable and aligned with enterprise objectives .

You will work closely with architects, engineers, delivery teams, business stakeholders and senior leaders to translate strategic objectives into practical technology outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical leadership and architectural authority for cloud-native, microservices and event-driven platforms.
- Design, govern and evolve secure and scalable enterprise technology solutions.
- Lead the adoption of AI-enabled software engineering practices across the SDLC.
- Establish and promote modern DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and platform engineering practices.
- Drive technology modernisation through microservices adoption, containerisation and enterprise system integration.
- Develop reusable architectural and engineering patterns to improve scalability,



maintainability and operational resilience.
- Influence and guide complex architecture and engineering decisions.
- Identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, security, scalability and overall engineering maturity.
- Support the establishment of technical governance, standards and engineering practices.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Lead knowledge transfer and capability uplift across the organisation.
- Work with delivery partners and geographically distributed teams to achieve program outcomes.
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of emerging technologies.

AI Engineering & Innovation A key component of this role is helping embed AI into modern software engineering and service delivery . Experience across areas such as:

- Enterprise AI capabilities
- AI-enabled software development
- Machine learning solutions
- Semantic search
- AI workload deployment and operationalisation
- Responsible AI practices
- AI integration into the software development lifecycle
- Secure and governed AI implementation

Cloud, Microservices & Platform Engineering The successful candidate will ideally have strong experience across:

Key Skills & Experience We’re looking for a senior technical leader with:

- Extensive experience designing and implementing cloud-native,



microservices and event-driven architectures within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong experience delivering secure, scalable and business-critical platforms .
- Demonstrated expertise in AI engineering and AI-enabled solution delivery , including enterprise AI, machine learning and semantic search.
- Strong software and platform engineering capabilities across DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and security-by-design .
- Proven experience leading technology modernisation and transformation initiatives .
- The ability to provide clear technical direction and influence architecture decisions at an enterprise level.
- A strong understanding of platform reliability, scalability, resilience and operational excellence.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience engaging with senior executives, architects, engineers, delivery partners and multidisciplinary teams .
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and knowledge-transfer capabilities.
