Milestone IT is currently working with a well-established Managed Service Provider (MSP) to recruit an experienced Systems Engineer for a full-time position.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Systems Engineer who enjoys working across complex infrastructure environments and wants to be part of a team that delivers high-quality solutions to a diverse range of clients.

You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting enterprise infrastructure, with a particular focus on virtualisation, storage, backup and Microsoft technologies.

About the Role

As a Systems Engineer, you will work across a range of client environments, providing both project-based and operational support. You’ll be involved in maintaining highly available infrastructure, troubleshooting complex technical issues, implementing solutions and helping clients get the most from their technology investments.

This is a full-time role suited to an engineer who is comfortable working independently, taking ownership of technical issues and operating within an MSP environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, implement and support Microsoft-based infrastructure environments.
- Manage and troubleshoot Hyper-V virtualisation and Failover Clustering.
- Configure and support SAS and iSCSI SAN storage environments.
- Deploy and maintain Dell and HPE enterprise server and infrastructure hardware.
- Implement and support StarWind vSAN environments.
- Configure and manage Veeam Service Provider products and backup solutions.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID and associated Microsoft cloud services.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, networking, storage and virtualisation issues.
- Perform infrastructure upgrades, migrations and project implementations.
- Monitor system performance, availability and capacity.
- Maintain high standards around security, documentation, backup and disaster recovery.
- Work closely with clients and internal technical teams to deliver reliable infrastructure solutions.





Must-Have Technical Skills The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with:
- Hyper-V Failover Clustering
- SAS / iSCSI SANs
- Dell and/or HPE enterprise hardware
- StarWind vSAN
- Veeam Service Provider products
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Microsoft Windows Server environments
- Enterprise virtualisation and storage
- Backup and disaster recovery technologies
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure environments

About You You are a practical, technically capable Systems Engineer who enjoys solving problems and working with modern infrastructure technologies.

You'll ideally have

- Proven experience working as a Systems Engineer in an MSP or similar environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft server and infrastructure technologies.
- Experience working with enterprise storage and virtualisation platforms.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and client environments.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing to a broader technical team.
- A genuine interest in infrastructure and keeping your technical skills current.
