NEC Australia is seeking expressions of interest for a Linux Engineer to work on-site in Melbourne for one of its customers.
Key Responsibilities The Linux Engineer is responsible for planning and executing the upgrade, migration, and decommissioning of a fleet of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers from version 5 to version 8 to 9.x and 10.x, as well as supporting the upgrades of other Linux distributions.

Key Skills
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) v5.x-v10.x administration and upgrade experience
- Centos and Oracle Linux administration and upgrade experience.
- Server onboarding, provisioning, and decommissioning best practices
- Ability to follow documented build instructions, procedures, and checklists
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Proactive risk, issue, and dependency management
- Experience with change control, documentation, and operational governance
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Collaborating with other partners and progressing builds and transitions
Experience
- 4+ years working as a Linux Engineer
- Managed Services environment highly regarded
- Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams
- Experience working in a multi-sourced setting required
Commencement Date:
Asap. This is an initial 3-month initial contract with high likelihood of extension for successful candidate.
Work arrangement – initially onsite (Melbourne CBD) with hybrid arrangement to be negotiated as per project requirements. Therefore, the successful candidate must be located in Melbourne.
Eligibility
