Company Description
Accounting for Nature provides a science-based framework for measuring the condition of environmental assets, including native vegetation, soils, freshwater, marine, native fauna, and ecosystems. Accounting for Nature offers certification pathways, enabling Environmental Accounts to be recognised as “Certified". These certified Environmental Accounts are widely regarded as a trusted foundation for sustainability claims related to conservation and restoration.
They support grant funding, financial instruments, impact investment due diligence, consumer labelling, and credible linkage of environmental co-benefits to carbon and nature units under internationally recognised standards.
Role Description The Manager, Environmental Account Certification is a full-time remote work from home role responsible for overseeing the certification of Environmental Accounts under the Accounting for Nature® Framework. This role includes managing the end-to-end certification process, coordinating with clients and partners, and ensuring that all Environmental Accounts meet the required technical and compliance standards. The manager will review and assess submitted environmental data against methodologies, work closely with scientists, auditors, and project proponents, and provide guidance on applying the Framework.
The role includes developing and refining certification procedures, maintaining documentation and quality assurance processes, and contributing to continuous improvement of standards and tools. The manager will also support communication of certification outcomes to stakeholders, assist in training and capacity building for users of the Framework,
and collaborate with internal teams to align certification activities with broader organisational goals.
Qualifications
- Strong background in environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, or a related discipline, with experience working with environmental data and indicators.
- Knowledge of sustainability reporting, environmental accounting, and/or impact measurement frameworks, including familiarity with certification or audit processes. Knowledge in AfN Framework highly desirable.
- Proven skills in project management, including coordinating multiple stakeholders, managing timelines, and maintaining high-quality documentation and process controls.
- Experience collaborating with technical experts, auditors, and clients to interpret methodologies, assess data quality, and ensure rigorous application of standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to scientific integrity and transparency.
- Comfort working independently in a remote environment, using digital collaboration tools, and contributing to a distributed, mission-driven team.
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., environmental science, ecology, sustainability, geography, economics, or similar); postgraduate study or professional certification in a related field is an advantage.
