Support Workers Wanted – Join the Manaaki Care Team!
We’re Growing — and We’re Looking for the Right People to Grow With Us.
At Manaaki Care, we believe great support starts with great people. We’re a boutique registered NDIS provider supporting participants across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Maitland, with a strong focus on genuine relationships, person-centred support and helping people live life on their own terms.
We’re looking for experienced Disability Support Workers to join our growing team, with a particular focus on Supported Independent Living (SIL) while also providing Community Access and other supports.
If you’re someone who is reliable, resilient, adaptable and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get involved — we want to hear from you.
About the Role
We have Permanent Part-Time and Casual opportunities available for the right people.
You’ll be supporting participants in their homes and out in the community, helping with day-to-day life, routines, appointments, activities, personal goals and everything in between.
No two days are exactly the same — and that's part of what makes the role so rewarding.
We’re looking for people who can:
- Build genuine, respectful relationships with participants.
- Support people with complex needs, psychosocial disabilities, mental health conditions, trauma, complex behaviours and high support needs.
- Encourage independence rather than simply doing things for people.
- Stay calm, patient and professional when things don't go to plan.
- Think on your feet and problem-solve when situations change.
- Work independently while knowing when to ask for help or escalate concerns.
- Work well as part of a team and contribute positively to the workplace.
- Follow support plans,
procedures and documentation requirements.
- Bring energy, initiative and a willingness to get involved.
We Value Resilience Supporting people to live their best lives can be incredibly rewarding — and at times, it can be challenging too.
Every day can look different. Plans change, unexpected situations come up, and sometimes you need to think creatively to find a way forward.
We're looking for people who can stay calm, adapt, problem-solve and keep moving forward, while always keeping the participant at the centre of what they do.
We value people who are willing to learn, communicate openly, take responsibility and support each other as a team.
Are you someone that is reliable, resilient and genuinely care?— Do you show up, follow through and take pride in making a difference? if you answered yes, then we would love to chat to you.
What We're Looking For To be successful, you will have:
- At least 12 months' experience working in disability or Supported Independent Living.
- Experience supporting people with complex needs.
- A genuine passion for helping people achieve their goals and maintain independence.
- Robust communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work both independently and within a team.
- A calm and resilient approach to challenging situations.
- Good judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills.
- A professional approach to boundaries, confidentiality and participant dignity.
- A willingness to learn and grow with our organisation.
A relevant qualification, or actively working towards one, will be highly regarded. Must have relevant NDIS checks, First Aid/CPR, and own Vehicle with comprehensive insurance
Flexibility is Important
Our participants receive support across a 24/7 roster, so flexibility is essential.
Successful applicants will need to be available to:
- Work across SIL and Community Access supports.
- Work a rotating roster.
- Work at least one weekend per fortnight.
- Complete a minimum of two sleepover shifts per week.
- Adapt to changing participant needs, routines and community activities.
Why Manaaki Care? We’re not a huge organisation — and that's intentional.
We want to know our staff. We want our staff to know our participants. And we want people to feel supported, valued and part of something.
When you join Manaaki Care, you can expect:
? A supportive and approachable management team
? A genuine team environment
? Ongoing training and development
? Opportunities to grow within the organisation
? Variety across SIL and Community Access
? A workplace where your contribution is noticed and valued
? The opportunity to make a real difference in someone's everyday life
If you're an experienced support worker who is reliable, resilient, practical, compassionate and ready to get involved, we'd love to hear from you.
We're looking for people who don't just want a job — we want people who want to make a difference and be part of a team that genuinely cares.
