Role Description The role at Phoenix Truck Bodies is a full-time, on-site position located in Geelong, VIC.

The Metal

Fabricator will cut, shape, and assemble to build, modify and repair truck bodies, following technical drawings and work instructions. Day-to-day tasks include operating hand and power tools, grinding and finishing metal surfaces, and performing basic welding and fitting as required. The role involves safely handling materials, assisting with loading and moving components, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Fabricator will collaborate with other workshop team members to meet production schedules, follow safety procedures, and ensure each truck body meets quality standards.

Qualifications

- Strong metalworking skills, including measuring, cutting, forming, and assembling metal components.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for fabrication and finishing tasks.
- Experience with grinding and surface preparation to achieve protected and high-quality finishes.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift or similar material-handling equipment preferred
- Background in fabrication, welding, or mechanical trades, ideally within automotive or body-building environments.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings and work instructions.
- Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with workshop safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant trade qualification or equivalent practical experience in metal fabrication is highly regarded.
