Summary

Treadwell is seeking to add a qualified Motor Mechanic to their skilled repair team in Plympton, South Australia. With a strong reputation for precision workmanship and customer trust, the business focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and reliable vehicle repairs. Their skilled technicians utilise advanced diagnostic tools to ensure every vehicle is restored to optimal performance standards.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in petrol and diesel light vehicles using manual inspection and computerised diagnostic equipment.
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering, braking, suspension and related mechanical components.
- Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and system adjustments.
- Test and adjust repaired components to manufacturer specifications to ensure reliable, protected and compliant vehicle operation.
- Use manufacturer service manuals, technical bulletins and diagnostic software to accurately undertake repair and maintenance procedures.
- Conduct post-repair inspections and road tests to verify vehicle roadworthiness, performance and operational safety.




- Attend vehicle breakdowns and urgent mechanical faults by conducting on-site diagnostics and carrying out necessary repairs.
- Apply workplace safety procedures, environmental requirements and relevant industry standards when performing mechanical repairs and servicing.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle repairs, servicing activities, replaced parts and diagnostic findings in accordance with workshop procedures.
- Assist and guide apprentices and junior mechanics by demonstrating correct repair techniques and supporting complex mechanical tasks.
- Liaise with service advisers to explain diagnosed mechanical faults, recommend repairs and provide estimated repair timeframes.
- Inspect and repair vehicle mechanical assemblies to maintain reliability, efficiency and minimise operational downtime.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

- Hold an AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Possess at least 1 year of hands-on experience in automotive servicing and repair.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
- Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and quality control standards in workshop operations.
- Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools, scanning devices, and repair software systems.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair tasks under time constraints.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organised, and safety-conscious workshop environment.
