Suburban Connect is a consortium of global leaders in tunnelling, comprising CPB Contractors, Ghella, and Acciona Construction. Together, we are delivering the southern section of tunnels for Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East – 16km of twin tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley, which will be Victoria’s longest transport tunnel. This project is being delivered on behalf of the Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA).

SRL East, spanning from Cheltenham to Box Hill, is now being constructed. Tunnelling is set to commence in 2026, with trains expected to begin running by 2035. The works include 55 cross passages, two tunnel portal structures, two station box excavations, and various associated support tasks.

About The Opportunity

Suburban Connect is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to support the accurate and compliant processing of payroll for a large construction workforce. This role will work closely with Payroll, Workforce and Project teams, with a strong focus on the interpretation and application of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs).

Responsibilities Include

- Support the end-to-end processing of weekly payroll for a large construction workforce.
- Review and validate timesheets, rosters, allowances, overtime, and leave transactions.
- Interpret and apply EBA conditions, project-specific agreements, and payroll policies.
- Process employee commencements, transfers, variations, and terminations.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate employee records and payroll documentation.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from employees,



supervisors, and project stakeholders.
- Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, EBAs, taxation, superannuation, and company procedures.
- Collaborate with Workforce, HR, and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy and efficiency.

About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Previous payroll administration experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, or a similar blue-collar workforce setting.
- Strong experience interpreting and applying Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs).
- Experience processing payroll for a large, project-based workforce.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
- Well-developed communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with payroll and workforce management systems.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
