Indus is a rapidly growing fintech startup backed by Zerodha. We let anyone outside India invest in Indian mutual funds and stocks without an Indian bank account, and we have gone from zero to 20,000 customers across Australia and Current Zealand since launching. Australia is the market we are taking this year, and the way we take it is our founder on stages, on podcasts and in front of community rooms across the country. Your job is to put him there.
Find the right rooms:
- Build and maintain a live database of target podcasts, journalists, newsletters, conferences and panels across Australia, New Zealand and India, covering fintech, investing, startups and the Indian diaspora
- Rank opportunities on who is actually in the audience rather than follower count, and make the case for why each one is worth the founder's time
- Write and send the outreach. Find the producer, find the angle, follow up until you get a yes or a no
- Own the pipeline from first contact to booked slot, and keep a running log of what is working: subject lines, angles, timing, who replies and who never does
Run the appearances:
- Own the calendar end to end: applications, briefs, topics, logistics, AV, travel, timings
- Prepare a briefing note before every appearance: host background, audience, past episodes, likely questions, the three points to land and the numbers behind them
- Track what happens afterwards. Clips, mentions, downloads, inbound. Tell us honestly which appearances moved something and which were vanity
- Turn every appearance into the next two. Nobody leaves a green room without an introduction
Put us in front of communities:
- Map every Indian community organisation in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide: state and language associations, temples and gurdwaras, business chambers, IIT and IIM alumni networks, university societies, professional groups
- Organise sessions with them where our founder is the speaker, from twenty people in a community hall to two hundred at a chamber dinner
- Fill the rooms. Invites, ticketing, reminders, run sheet, sign in, and the follow up that actually converts
- Build a twelve month calendar around Diwali, Holi, Independence Day, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne and the events that already pull thousands, and get us in before sponsorship sells out
- Sign the partners who put us in front of more people: accountants and advisers with Indian client books, migration agents, community sponsors, campus societies
Make it compound:
- Film and photograph every appearance and get the raw footage to our content team the same night, so one panel becomes a week of Reels and LinkedIn posts
- Pull the best moments, lines and audience questions from every room and feed them back into what we publish
- A short monthly note on who else is talking to these communities and what they are saying
Who this suits:
- You are in Sydney or Melbourne and can get to events on weeknights and weekends
- You can write a short email that a stranger actually replies to
- You are fine being told no, or hearing nothing at all, twenty times before a yes
- Curious about media. You listen to podcasts and can tell us which ones are good and why
- Organised enough to run fifty open conversations without losing track of one
- Interest in markets, investing or the India and ANZ story is a big plus
- Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi or Malayalam is a real advantage
- Students, recent graduates and career switchers all welcome. No prior PR experience required
What you get:
- Paid, with a real budget to run events instead of begging for one
- You work directly under the founder. No layers, no committees, and what you build happens that week
- Full ownership of a function, with your name on the results
- A portfolio of placements and events you can point to
- If you are good, this becomes a full-time role as we scale Australia
How to apply: Send an email to
[email protected] with:
1. A short note on why you. No cover letter template please
2. Three podcasts, publications or events you think our founder should be on, and one line each on why
3. The actual outreach email you would send to one of them
