Role Description The Principal Para-Clinical Departments is a full-time, on-site role based in Mangalore, TAS, responsible for overseeing and coordinating para-clinical academic departments such as pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, and related disciplines within a medical college or teaching hospital. The role involves planning and supervising academic activities, ensuring that teaching, training, and assessment processes meet regulatory and institutional standards. Daily responsibilities include guiding department faculty, monitoring curriculum delivery, supporting research initiatives, and facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance learning outcomes.
The Principal also contributes to policy development, accreditation readiness, and quality improvement,
while working closely with senior leadership to align para-clinical education with overall institutional goals.
Qualifications
- The candidate should possess strong academic leadership and administrative skills, including experience in supervising faculty, managing departmental operations, and coordinating curricula across para-clinical disciplines.
- The candidate should possess expertise in para-clinical subjects (e.g., pathology, microbiology, pharmacology or related fields), supported by a relevant postgraduate medical qualification (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- The candidate should possess skills in academic planning and quality assurance, such as designing training programs, overseeing assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- The candidate should possess research and scholarly skills, including the ability to promote research culture, mentor faculty and students, and contribute to publications or academic projects.
- The candidate should possess strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty, students, administrative teams, and external stakeholders.
- The candidate should possess the ability to make informed decisions, handle complex issues, and adapt to evolving educational and healthcare environments.
- Previous experience in a senior academic or administrative role within a medical college or teaching hospital, familiarity with national medical education regulations, and proficiency with basic digital tools and academic management systems would be beneficial.
