### Production Manager - Workshop & Events Our client is looking to appoint an experienced Production Manager to take genuine ownership of workshop production and manage their team of builders and tradespeople on a day-to-day basis.

This is an important hire for the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring production is well planned, efficiently managed, completed to a high standard and delivered on time.

Our client operates an in-house production workshop specialising in custom event builds, exhibition stands, brand activations, staging, custom furniture and other bespoke builds. With projects generally deadline-driven and tied to fixed installation and event dates, strong production planning, accountability and quality control are essential.

### Key Responsibilities The Production Manager will take ownership of the complete workshop production process, including:

- Managing and supervising builders and trades within the workshop.
- Allocating daily work and clearly communicating individual responsibilities.
- Managing production schedules across multiple projects simultaneously.
- Working backwards from installation and event dates to establish realistic build deadlines.
- Ensuring projects are completed on time and ready for dispatch.
- Monitoring allocated labour and build hours against actual hours worked.
- Monitoring productivity and taking action on projects that are falling behind.
- Reviewing drawings and job requirements before production commences.
- Coordinating closely with Project Management, CAD/Design and Operations teams.
- Ensuring builders understand drawings, specifications and required finishes.
- Managing material requirements and ensuring materials are available when required.
- Minimising material waste and unnecessary production costs.
- Conducting quality-control checks throughout the build process.

- Identifying incorrect or substandard work early and ensuring it is rectified.
- Managing workshop workflow, machinery, tools, housekeeping and general production standards.
- Ensuring completed builds are properly prepared, labelled and ready for transport and installation.
- Liaising with third-party suppliers as required.
- Providing management with clear updates on production progress, delays and issues.

### Team Management & Accountability A key part of this role will be people management and accountability. Our client is looking for someone who is comfortable managing tradespeople and providing clear direction. This is not an office-based scheduling position - the successful candidate will be physically involved in the workshop, understand what is happening on the floor and confidently lead the team.

You Will Be Expected To

- Allocate and reallocate work according to production priorities.
- Establish clear and reasonable completion targets.
- Ensure team members understand their responsibilities.
- Address productivity, performance and conduct issues when required.
- Deal confidently with situations where employees are unwilling to undertake reasonable duties.
- Inspect completed work and require rectification where standards are not met.
- Escalate ongoing performance or conduct concerns to senior management.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork and high production standards.

The ideal candidate will be firm but fair, approachable and respected by the team, while being comfortable having difficult conversations when necessary.

### About You Ideally, you will have experience in a joinery, exhibition, events, shopfitting, set building, commercial carpentry, manufacturing or similar production environment.

A trade background will be highly regarded, as a strong understanding of how projects are constructed will help you identify production issues, assess build times and maintain quality standards.

However, leadership, people management and production management experience are more important than being the most technically skilled tradesperson in the workshop.

We Are Looking For Someone Who Is

- Highly organised and structured.
- Solid in people management and team leadership.
- Confident giving direction and holding people accountable.
- Proactive rather than reactive.
- Experienced in production planning and scheduling.
- Commercially aware of labour hours and material costs.
- Able to read and interpret technical and CAD drawings.
- Quality focused and detail oriented.
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solutions focused when issues arise.
- Confident liaising with suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Prepared to take ownership rather than continually escalating everyday workshop issues.

### The Opportunity Ultimately, our client is looking for someone who will be accountable for production output. Once a project has been handed over into production, senior management needs confidence that it is being managed correctly, the builders know exactly what is expected of them, and potential issues are identified and resolved well before dispatch or installation.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Production Manager to establish structure, accountability and strong production processes within the workshop and take genuine ownership of this critical area of the business.
