Camp Wyuna | The Y Geelong

Lead Adventures. Inspire young people. Create memorable experiences. The Y Geelong is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Program Coordinator to join the team at Camp Wyuna. This is a exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced outdoor education or recreation professional whop is passionate about delivering safe, engaging and meaningful experiences for young people and community groups.

About the Role

Reporting to the Camp Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of Camp Wyuna’s program activities, ensuring programs are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. As program coordinator you will play a key role in overseeing the planning, coordination and delivery of outdoor education, recreation and adventure programs while leading and developing a team of skilled Program Leaders and instructors. You’ll help create memorable experiences that build confidence, resilience, teamwork and connection with he outdoors

Key responsibilities

- Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of outdoor education, recreation and adventure programs.
- Ensure activities are delivered safely and consistently in accordance with policies, procedures and industry standards.
- Coordinate program logistics, staffing, scheduling and equipment requirements.
- Mentor, coach and support Program Leaders and instructional staff




- Main strong safety and risk management practices across all activities
- Monitor program quality and participant outcomes, identifying opportunities for continued improvement
- Develop positive relationships with schools, community groups and other stakeholders
- Ensure accurate documentation, reporting and operational records are maintained
- Promote a positive, inclusive and collaborative team culture aligned with Y values

About you

You are a proactive and organised leader with a passion for outdoor learning and participant engagement. You thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy developing people and understand the importance of safety, planning and service excellence. To be successful, you will have:

- Experience coordinating outdoor education, recreation, adventure-based learning or camp programs.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching and supporting staff
- Robust understanding of risk management and safety practice within outdoor recreation settings
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of program delivery
- A commitment to child safety, inclusion and participant wellbeing

Essential Requirements

- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Drivers License
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends are required

Desirable

- Qualification in Outdoor Education, Outdoor Recreation, Sport and Recreation, Education or related field




- Adventure activity qualifications and certifications
- Knowledge of industry best practice
- Experience working within camps, outdoor education centers or community-based organisations
