Registered Nurse Postgraduate Program - Acute Specialty Areas (February 2027 Intake)

- Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac, Emergency, Haematology/Oncology, Intensive Care, Specialty Medicine, Paediatric, Perioperative and Renal/Dialysis specialty programs
- 12-month clinically supported learner position to undertake postgraduate study
- Permanent part-time (minimum 0.8EFT) or full-time employment (by negotiation)
- Supported professional development and study leave provided (as per EBA)

About the Role

Eastern Health fosters a culture of lifelong learning and is now recruiting postgraduate students to acute specialty areas. During your postgraduate studies, you will be supported with clinical education and supervision delivered by experienced members of the Eastern Health Learning & Teaching team, whose priority is to support your professional development and career aspirations. You will also have access to a team of committed interdisciplinary clinical experts to support and guide your learning throughout the program.

We are currently offering clinically supported postgraduate RN positions within the below listed specialty areas. Opportunities within a number of these specialty programs are available across more than one of Eastern Health's acute sites. You will be asked to nominate your desired specialty program, and site if applicable, during the application process.

We hold partnerships with various universities, specific to the area of specialty practice. Successful applicants to the Eastern Health Postgraduate Program will be required to also apply for our designated tertiary affiliate's specialty program as listed below. Each program commences on or before Monday 1st February 2027.

Cardiac (CCU)

*Please note, positions within the Maroondah Perioperative Postgraduate Program include temporary rotation to Box Hill Hospital.

Renal/Dialysis

Box Hill Hospital (Ward 8.1), Maroondah Dialysis, Box Hill Dialysis, Peter James Centre (PJC) Dialysis*

Tertiary Affiliate: University of Tasmania

*Please note, positions within the Maroondah, Box Hill and PJC dialysis units are only open to internal/existing Eastern Health Integrated Renal Services (EHRS) staff. Additionally, applicants who are shortlisted for Renal/Dialysis will have the opportunity to nominate their preferred model for the program: either rotational (6-months on Ward 8.1 and 6-months in dialysis) or single stream (full 12-months at one location).

Specialty Medicine

Maroondah Hospital (Ward 3 North)

Tertiary Affiliation: Monash University

About You To be successful in this role you will possess:

- Current condition-free AHPRA registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
- Recent acute clinical experience – greater than 1-year of post-registration nursing experience (essential)
- Successful completion of a Registered Nurse Graduate Program (preferred)
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- A growth mindset with a proactive and receptive approach to feedback
- A self-directed and motivated approach to life-long learning
- A strong commitment to excellence and high-quality patient-centred care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent organisational skills and IT proficiency





Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation Handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment. Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date influenza vaccination prior to offer.
