Capella State High School is seeking a motivated, practical and hands-on Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to help maintain our school grounds, facilities and resources to a high standard. You will play an important role in keeping our school safe, well-maintained and welcoming for students, staff and the wider school community. We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised and takes pride in their work, with practical skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About Us Capella State High School is asmall rural school with big opportunities, located between Emerald and Clermont and serving the local agricultural and mining communities. We are committed to student engagement, wellbeing and success, with a focus on teamwork, positive attitudes and respect.

Your Opportunity As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.

You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However,



the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.

Responsibilities

- Undertake general school maintenance, grounds and facilities duties, including furniture, equipment and asset management.
- Manage mail, deliveries, stores, stocktakes and school supplies.
- Support school security, including opening/closing buildings and maintaining security systems.
- Maintain grounds, gardens, ovals and sporting facilities, including mowing, watering and general upkeep.
- Coordinate and undertake repairs and maintenance, including buildings, equipment, windows, locks and swimming pools.
- Support the setup and pack-up of events, assemblies, examinations and sporting activities.
- Ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met, including the safe handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.
- Liaise with staff, students, contractors and tradespeople regarding maintenance, repairs and facilities.
- Maintain tools, equipment and machinery and arrange servicing and repairs as required.
