Scrum Master

Location: Adelaide / SA

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Contract: Up to 12 Months + Extensions up to 24 Months

Start Date: October 2026

Level: APS6 / EL1 Equivalent

Security Clearance: Baseline

Initial Arrangement: Full-time onsite for the first 6 weeks, followed by potential hybrid flexibility

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support Agile delivery teams within a large Australian Government environment.

The Scrum Master will work closely with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Architects, Developers and Testers to improve team performance, remove impediments and maintain consistent delivery outcomes.

The role requires someone who can coach teams in Agile values and practices, facilitate effective ceremonies, manage dependencies and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives .
- Coach teams in Agile values, principles, practices, processes and tools .
- Establish and maintain team agreements, working practices and social contracts.
- Identify, manage and remove blockers and impediments affecting delivery.
- Protect delivery teams from external interruptions and competing priorities.
- Support Product Owners with backlog refinement, prioritisation and planning .
- Work with stakeholders to negotiate priorities, goals and delivery expectations.
- Coordinate dependencies across multiple teams and delivery streams.
- Monitor team performance, delivery throughput and velocity and identify opportunities for improvement.




- Support new team members and help them transition effectively into the team.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and improve team cohesion, motivation and performance .
- Create an environment based on trust, respect, transparency and psychological safety .
- Help teams become increasingly self-managing and self-organising .
- Research and apply contemporary Agile frameworks, practices and tooling.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to build Agile capability within teams.
- Support organisational change and improvements to workplace practices and delivery processes.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver user-focused digital services.

Essential Skills & Experience Agile Measurement – SFIA Level 4
- Experience identifying and prioritising appropriate team and delivery measures .
- Ability to establish meaningful metrics, targets and reporting approaches.
- Experience using data and measurements to monitor team performance and support continuous improvement.

Methods & Tools – SFIA Level 4
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, frameworks, tools and delivery practices .
- Ability to advise teams on appropriate Agile methods and tools.
- Experience tailoring and improving processes while maintaining organisational standards and policies.




- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and improve the use of Agile practices and tooling.

Organisational Facilitation – SFIA Level 5
- Proven experience facilitating multidisciplinary teams to achieve defined goals and outcomes.
- Strong ability to coach teams in collaborative problem-solving and continuous improvement .
- Experience establishing shared responsibilities, team agreements and sustainable ways of working.
- Ability to implement and continuously improve team principles, practices, processes and ceremonies .
- Strong understanding of team dynamics, strengths, constraints and performance challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to build high-performing, collaborative and self-organising teams.

Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting colleagues and team members through organisational processes, communication channels and workplace practices.
- Solid specialist Agile knowledge with the ability to provide practical advice to teams and stakeholders.
- Experience working in large or complex government or enterprise environments .
- Experience working with geographically distributed or multidisciplinary Agile teams.
- Agile certifications such as CSM, PSM, SAFe or equivalent will be advantageous.

What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will be a confident and experienced Scrum Master and Agile coach who can work independently, influence stakeholders and help delivery teams achieve consistent outcomes. You should be highly skilled in facilitation, coaching, stakeholder engagement, impediment removal, Agile measurement and continuous improvement , with the ability to operate effectively in a complex enterprise environment.
