Take the lead in aviation security at Sydney’s newest airport
ACESGroup is seeking experienced and confident Screening Duty Shift Supervisors to join our aviation security team at Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport.
This is an opportunity to take a frontline leadership role within a major new aviation operation, leading passenger screening teams and helping establish a strong culture of security, compliance, professionalism and exceptional customer service from day one.
Reporting into the aviation operations leadership team, you will coordinate passenger screening operations across your shift, support and develop Aviation Screening Officers, manage operational issues and ensure screening activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with regulatory and airport requirements.
The Role
As a Screening Duty Shift Supervisor, you will provide visible, hands-on leadership across passenger screening operations.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading and coordinating Aviation Screening Officers throughout the shift.
- Allocating employees across screening positions and managing breaks, rotations and operational coverage.
- Conducting shift briefings, handovers and welfare checks.
- Monitoring screening standards and providing real-time coaching and direction.
- Ensuring screening procedures, escalation processes and operational requirements are consistently followed.
- Monitoring screening equipment, lane controls and screening areas and escalating faults promptly.
- Coordinating with AOCC, airport operations, airline representatives and other stakeholders to manage passenger flow and operational issues.
- Taking a lead role in responding to prohibited items, alarms, passenger disputes, security incidents and other matters requiring supervisory intervention.
- Maintaining accurate shift records, incident reports and operational handovers.
- Supporting the ongoing competency and development of Screening Officers through mentoring, observation and on-the-job feedback.
You will also be expected to take control of the screening area during emergencies, provide transparent direction to employees and coordinate with AOCC, emergency services and relevant airport stakeholders when required.
About You
We are looking for people who can lead from the floor. You will be confident making decisions, providing direction and maintaining standards in a busy, highly regulated environment.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Previous experience as an aviation Screening Supervisor is highly regarded.
- Previous aviation passenger screening experience is highly regarded.
- Strong frontline leadership and people management capability.
- The confidence to coach, direct and support Screening Officers in real time.
- Sound judgement and the ability to remain calm and decisive during incidents or operational disruptions.
- Strong understanding of the importance of regulatory compliance, security procedures and escalation requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A professional, customer-focused approach when interacting with passengers and the airport community.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a 24/7 aviation environment, including rotating shifts.
Applicants must also meet the relevant security licensing, aviation security, training, accreditation and site access requirements applicable to the position. The position requires an NSW Security Licence 1A. Why Join ACESGroup?
