We are partnering with an enterprise resources and infrastructure client to deliver major capital expenditure (CapEx) electrical packages, high-voltage (HV) substation expansions, and plant modernization initiatives. We are seeking an experienced Senior Capital Project Electrical Engineer to represent our organisation and take technical ownership of end-to-end package execution, vendor management, and site integration.
In this role, you will bridge heavy engineering design, procurement, and on-site contractor management within our client’s ecosystem. You will be instrumental in delivering CapEx electrical packages on schedule and within regulatory compliance—coordinating HV/LV switchgear installations, transformers, motor control centres (MCCs), and plant power systems across operational assets.

Core Responsibilities
- CapEx Electrical Package Delivery: Lead technical execution, budget tracking, and scheduling for electrical infrastructure, HV substations, and plant upgrades.
- Engineering Review & Compliance: Review single line diagrams (SLDs), schematic drawings, cable sizing calculations,
and protection settings in alignment with AS/NZS 3000 and AS 2067 standards.
- Procurement & EPCM Coordination: Develop scopes of work (SOWs), technical specifications, and vendor tender evaluations for transformers, switchboards, and drive systems.
- Site Execution & Integration Support: Liaise directly with site electrical supervisors, commissioning teams, and contractors during shutdowns, cutovers, and tie-ins.
- Safety & Hazard Mitigation: Lead electrical safety in design (HAZOP / CHAIR) studies and ensure compliance with Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) regulations.
- Stakeholder Management: Provide direct technical reporting to client project directors, site superintendents, and operations leaders.
Selection Criteria
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (eligible for Engineers Australia registration / ANZSCO 233311).
- Heavy Industry Experience: Proven track record delivering electrical project engineering packages in mining, heavy industrial, power generation, or utilities environments.
- Technical Standards: Deep practical knowledge of Australian Standards ( AS/NZS 3000, AS 2067, AS/NZS 61439 ) and HV/LV distribution systems.
- Project Delivery: Commercial experience managing contractors, site technical queries (RFIs), factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site cutover planning.
- Location Requirements: Currently residing in Australia with valid work rights or eligibility for 482 visa sponsorship/transfer.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Current WA Electrical Nominee licence or Chartered Engineer (CPEng) status.
- EEHA (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas) design/installation competencies.
- Experience with power systems analysis software (ETAP or PowerFactory).
