About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor or HSEQ Manager to lead health, safety, environment, and quality compliance for a major bridge infrastructure project in regional Victoria. Delivered by a leading National Tier 2 Infrastructure Contractor, this project has 2 years remaining in its construction lifecycle. You will serve as the site authority on all HSEQ matters, working closely with the Project Manager, site supervisors, and client stakeholders to embed a proactive safety culture and deliver seamless compliance on a high-profile civil structures build.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy: Drive the site HSEQ Management Plan, aligning national corporate governance with live site operations.
- On-Site Safety & Auditing: Conduct daily site walk-throughs, safety inspections, SWMS reviews, critical risk assessments, and formal compliance audits.
- Incident & Risk Management: Lead incident investigations, manage reporting, and implement actionable corrective controls.
- Environmental & Quality Oversight: Oversee site environmental controls (waterway management, erosion, sediment) and ensure Quality Assurance (QA) documentation and sign-offs meet Victoria Major Transport Infrastructure Authority (MTIA) and VicRoads standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary HSEQ contact for client representatives, local councils, environmental authorities, and sub-contractors.
- Culture & Training: Deliver site inductions, toolboxes, pre-starts, and mentor junior site staff to maintain a transparent safety culture.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of HSEQ experience within civil infrastructure,
with proven experience on bridges, major structural concrete, or heavy civil structures.
- Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or Civil Engineering.
- Lead Auditor qualification (Safety/Quality/Setting) preferred.
- ICAM Lead Investigator certification.
- Current White Card & valid Australian Driver's License.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Victorian OHS Regulations, WorkSafe Victoria standards, EPA Victoria requirements, and VicRoads/DTP civil construction specifications.
- Location & Travel: Willingness to work regionally on site (local commute or FIFO/DIDO arrangements with living allowances offered).
