Role Description The Senior Mining Engineer – Truck Shovel role is a site based contract position based in the Bowen Basin QLD with FIFO option to Brisbane. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing truck-shovel mine plans, including pit designs, haulage routes, and production schedules to ensure safe, efficient coal mining operations. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing production data, preparing engineering reports, coordinating with operations and maintenance teams, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers and mine planners.

Engineer will contribute to short-, medium-, and long-term planning,



support cost and productivity improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with relevant standards and site procedures. The position also involves regular engagement with stakeholders to address operational challenges and implement sustainable engineering solutions.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust Mine Planning skills, including pit design, scheduling, and truck-shovel fleet optimization.
- Candidates should possess robust Analytical Skills to interpret production data, evaluate scenarios, and support data-driven decisions.
- Candidates should possess solid Mining Engineering knowledge, covering open-cut methods, safety principles, and operational best practices.
- Candidates should possess experience with Coal and Coal Mining operations, particularly in truck-shovel environments.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficiency with mine planning and scheduling software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, or similar tools).
- Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead engineering role within open-cut coal operations.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional site teams.
- Commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement in mining practices.
