Position Classification: Occupational Therapist Level 3

Remuneration: $61.31 - $63.29 per hour

Hours Per Week: 23

Location: Blacktown & Mt Druitt Hospitals

Where you'll be working

Join the Occupational Therapy team at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, where you will play a key role in establishing and developing a current paediatric and neonatal Occupational Therapy service. You will work across inpatient and outpatient settings alongside experienced nursing, medical and allied health professionals in a collaborative, patient-centred environment.

- Lead the development of paediatric and neonatal Occupational Therapy services across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals.

- Build strong relationships with medical, nursing, allied health and community stakeholders to support integrated care.

- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, professional development, innovation and continuous improvement.

- Support the supervision and development of Occupational Therapists, students and Allied Health Assistants.

- Contribute to quality improvement, research, education and service development initiatives that enhance patient care.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will provide high-level clinical expertise and independent professional judgement in the assessment and management of paediatric and neonatal patients. You will help establish the foundations of a new service while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

- Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, intervention, equipment prescription, education,



home visits and referrals for paediatric and neonatal patients.

- Develop, implement and evaluate the paediatric and neonatal Occupational Therapy service, including identifying appropriate resources, equipment and clinical processes.

- Provide expert clinical advice, education and support to health professionals, patients and families.

- Lead and participate in quality improvement, research, accreditation and service development activities.

- Supervise and support Occupational Therapists, students and Allied Health Assistants while contributing to ongoing professional development.

Essential Criteria

- Qualification: Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy

- Registration: AHPRA Registration

Selection Criteria

1. Registration with AHPRA as an Occupational therapist

2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in the assessment and management of complex paediatric patients, including infants in the neonatal special care unit and up to date knowledge of occupational therapy assessment and intervention in these areas.

3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels

4. Ability to provide in-depth advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence, with the capacity to provide clinical supervision to other staff

5.



Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature

6. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff

7. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.

8. Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends, public holidays and on call, if required. Ability to supervise staff and students
