JS Careers is currently mandated to assist a leading insurer in Australia to source a Senior Operational Risk risk professional.

This position will form part of the risk function and help design, implement and manage the Line 2 Operational Risk framework. The role will have specific coverage of claims and underwriting and candidates are sought with a robust understanding of these areas and the regulatory obligations that apply within the insurance industry.

Key responsibilities include :

- Managing all aspects of the Operational Risk framework for the business;
- Ensuring that the Business is aware of their obligations and has evaluated their associated risks;
- Ensuring adequate controls are in place to manage operational risks, with oversight of risk assurance activities;
- Identify and providing guidance and advice to the business on continual improvement opportunities for operational risk policies, procedures and processes;
- Promote a culture of compliance and compliant conduct;




- Work with the compliance function to ensure that the impact of regulatory and legal obligations on the business are included in the risk management framework;
- Ensure regular engagement occurs with key business stakeholders in the business to ensure ongoing awareness of non-financial risks to the business, with training plans put in place where necessary.

Suitable candidates must have :

- Minimum of 4 years of Operational Risk experience within insurance;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in commerce, law, accounting or other discipline;
- Strong understanding of the full suite of APRA risk standards that apply to the insurance industry;
- Excellent communication and influencing skills;
- An ability to communicate complex messages to a broad range of business stakeholders.
